If you're overwhelmed and tired, imagine how the kids feel by the of the day.

Remember the days of sleeping in late on Christmas morning and enjoying a leisurely breakfast with your spouse before heading off to visit family? You might have had a hangover from the night before but you had time to recover. And if you didn’t want to stay very long, you could just make an appearance. Oh, the pre-kid days!

Now in all likelihood, you have been running around like a chicken with no head just trying to get it all done. Christmas Eve is the last mad rush to have everything ready for Santa: gifts wrapped, cookies baked, and kids in bed. The following Christmas morning chaos usually begins somewhere around 5am. Then the unwrapping begins, along with breakfast, never ending streams of shiny paper and putting together all those toys! The worst part might just be unleashing the toys from the packages themselves. Surely, by 11am, you’re already exhausted….and then it’s off to see the family.

Yep, kids bring about a whole new meaning to the family holidays and when you’re already dealing with the craziness of the holiday season that occurs in most families, sometimes it helps to just accept that some things will never change. Your family, like many, might just always be crazy, like it or not. Sometimes it helps to mentally prepare so I’ve come up with a list of 10 things you’ll likely hear at Christmas dinner in the hope that you might let it all go in one ear and out the other when it actually goes down on Sunday:

The surgeon was in a bad mood, the nurse was late, and the lingering pain was hideous, not to mention the scar (which you will hopefully be spared in seeing it up close and personal).
