Dogs Hate Christmas: Stop Doing This to Your Pets

Dogs hate Christmas.
You may think that animals love to be dressed up in cute costumes on Halloween and Christmas, but they don’t. Many pet owners who dress their animals up will admit they know the animals hate it, because you can tell by the expression on an animal’s face.
And it’s not just the costumes, it’s everything. The lights, the decorations. I mean, just look at the way these cats let their owners know how much they hate Christmas, then check out these 15 dogs hating Christmas, below. These hounds clearly have Howliday Affective Disorder:

Taz commented on Dec 16 11 at 3:23 pmhaha- if i have to suffer the indignity of picking up her poo she can deal with the indignity of costumes! seriously though, all of the many dogs in my family love getting dressed up- or rather love the attention of getting dressed up and fawned over. they actually get jealous if their ‘cousin’ is dressed up and they aren’t!
Ashley Marie commented on Dec 16 11 at 4:26 pmI agree with taz…and how does anyone know the animals dont like it?? What about the animals that get cold if they dont have a sweater on and the owners put one on so they can do their business outside, that cruel too? LOL
Rosie commented on Dec 16 11 at 4:41 pmI used to think dressed pets were ridiculous…until we adopted our special needs pug. She has diabetes and a severe skin condition that can’t be treated in the traditional (aka effective) ways because of her insulin reliance. So, she has to wear clothes.
And, believe it or not, she loves her clothing. She gets WAY excited when its time to change her shirt – and she has a Christmas jacket she knows she wears for our ugly sweater parties. She prances around and “shows” everyone her clothing. It’s pretty cute. :)
On a normal day, if I am changing her clothes (just shirts because she has to have her front legs and scruff covered), she also gets so excited to go find my husband to show him that I can barely get her shirt on right before she’s running out the door to go find him ans “show” him her new shirt.
Just be careful of judging…I guess I just appreciate that people love their pets. That’s what’s important. And this is coming from someone who adopted a special needs, senior dog who was left behind continuously because of her health. She’s the best little girl ever and we are so happy to have her – clothing requirements and all. :)
Manjari commented on Dec 17 11 at 3:50 pmThere is a difference between putting a shirt on a special needs dog for a specific reason (or even putting a sweater on a cold dog), and making a dog wear reindeer antlers or draping a dog in christmas lights and plugging them in.
