Jerry Sandusky Arrested Again on New Sex Abuse Charges
Arrested again.
Just one week before his preliminary hearing on eight child sex abuse charges, former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky has been arrested again.
As Yahoo reports, Sandusky was arrested and arraigned today on new sex abuse charges brought on by two new accusers.
After Sandusky’s arrest last month the two new accusers were questioned by a grand jury. One victim claims he was assaulted in 1997, the other says Sandusky assaulted him in 2004.
Like previous victims, victims 9 and 10 allegedly met Sandusky through The Second Mile charity, which he founded in 1977.
Sandusky is already facing 40 counts of child sex abuse involving eight boys over a 15 year period. In interviews he has denied being sexually attracted to young boys, saying he is attracted to young people in general because they aren’t judgmental. In his first interview Sandusky told NBC’s Bob Costas he horsed around with boys, but there was no sexual intent.
The new charges include four counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, all of them first-degree felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
Sandusky also was charged with a count of indecent assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of children. Those are third-degree felonies punishable by up to seven years in prison and $15,000 in fines.
