The Muppets on SNL

Jason Segel, as SNL host, was joined by the Muppets during the show’s monologue (video).

Segel kicked off the show with a song, and who better to join him than Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Rowlf, Gonzo, Scooter and Fozzie?

Watch Jason Segel and the Muppets perform “I Can’t Believe I’m Hosting SNL” — seems there may be some confusion about what the Muppets’ role is on Saturday Night Live, as revealed during the song.

Segel had some reservations once the song got started and his Muppet friends seemed to believe they were co-hosting too. Why shouldn’t they believe they’re the stars of the show, after all?

All around, it was a super-cute opening and no doubt a great moment for Muppet fans.

Later in the show, Kermit joined Seth Myers for a “Really!?!” segment on SNL’s Weekend Update, where the two slammed U.S. Congress for declaring the tomato paste on pizza in school lunches a vegetable. Really. Funny.
