Amanda Jones sent a message to Baby Lisa: "Happy first birthday, baby girl! May God light your way until you make it home safely."

Yesterday was the first birthday of Lisa Irwin, the Kansas City baby who has been missing since October 4th. After some delay, Lisa’s brothers were finally interviewed by the FBI on Thursday afternoon, and the family reportedly held a small gathering in honor of the missing child on Friday morning.

Well-wishers from around the country took the opportunity Friday to show their support for Lisa’s safe return by baking an array of birthday cakes for the girl and sharing photos of them on Facebook. Some of the cakes, pictured below with accompanying notes to Lisa, were made by mothers who encouraged their own small children to help and pray for the safe return of a child they’ll likely never meet.

From the Rogers family
Happy 1st Birthday, BabyGirl! The Rogers send you all of our love & birthday wishes from Houston, TX to wherever you are! We dedicate this day and our 1st cake to you!

I only hope that as many people are praying for the safe return of lesser-known children like 5-year-old Jahessye Shockley – who is still missing – and who go missing every day without nearly as much media attention.

Making b’day cakes for a missing child you don’t know just seems so, I don’t know, weird, however well intending, but that’s just me. Why not have a child write/make/decorate a card for the family wishing for thier chid’s safe return instead? And I agree, I really hope people are praying for the safe return of other children who aren’t lucky enough to get as much meida attention like baby Lisa.
