Toddlers & Tiaras mom admits to spending $30,000 on pageants!

As the controversy surrounding Toddlers & Tiaras continues, new video clips from the show do nothing to help shed a positive light on the world of child pageants.

Here’s the latest little gem – video of a Toddlers & Tiaras’ mom scolding her daughter (at a whisper, but still) because they are on camera and she doesn’t want to be embarrassed.

Carley’s mom, Melissa Wynn, is heard saying: “We are on camera. Don’t you dare tell me ‘No’ one more time. Do you hear me? We are on national TV. Everybody’s going to see this.”

Oh brother. Looks like somebody forgot she was wearing a microphone.

And then there’s this little tidbit. Most critics of Toddlers & Tiaras — and the kiddie pageant world — believe that many of the moms are living vicariously through their children.

This notion can be pretty well supported in what Carley’s mom says in the clip: “Carley is as close to an exact replica of me as there could ever be. I feel like her and I are the same person. We live the same life, and we’re best friends. I just feel like that is me on stage.”

Anyone else see a problem here?

ugh. I’ve never seen the show and probably won’t….while this show might have all the people who see these pageants negatively now shaking their heads….I really wish there was some way just to shut them down. (the pageants). Unless all the criticism leads to real change, it’s jsut another reality TV freakshow. And I wonder if even without the pageants, these mothers would find some equally compelling way of teaching their daughters inappropriate behavior…my guess is yes.

Toddlers & Tiaras gets more free publicity here than on any other site of ever seen. Here’s an idea: How about refusing to promote this show until it eventually dies through lack of ratings? There’s really nothing to discuss.

Watching this show I have seen only one mother who seemed to love their daughter for who they. If Mom wants to be on stage then you go thru what these little ones do and enter padgents for your age. Poor Carley, where is the Dad? Her Mom verbally abuses that child and gets away with it. How can that child have ANY self esteem with a mom like that. These Mom’s say how much these small kids love this. Really, then why do they resist being made into a grown up so much. Dang, love these little ones for who they are, not for what you weren’t.

biatch. I would love to put the mom on stage, and just let all of the tv audience haters come out and bitch slap her…one per person for each time they saw that sweet little girl having to be the avatar reincarnated of that stupid mother.
