Casey Anthony’s Dad Says Caylee May Have Died Of Drug Overdose
The trial is over, but the theories about Caylee Anthony’s death just keep coming. If anyone knows what happened to that little girl (and surely someone must), they are not telling.
In the latest twist, Casey Anthony’s parents have given a lengthy interview to TV’s “Dr. Phil”, in which they offer differing accounts of what they each think happened to their granddaughter. Casey’s mom is sticking to the defense story, that Caylee drowned in the pool. Her dad, meanwhile, has a different theory: he thinks Casey may have drugged her daughter to death.
Given her recent acquittal on murder charges, that’s a pretty big claim to be making.
Reuters reports on the exchange, making it clear that George Anthony believes his daughter was involved in Caylee’s death. They report him saying:
“I believe that Casey or someone else that she was with, possibly gave too much to Caylee, she fell asleep and didn’t wake up. That’s what I feel,” George Anthony said on the “Dr. Phil” show, in an episode that aired on Wednesday.
McGraw asked George Anthony to elaborate on what substance he thinks could have been given to Caylee. George Anthony responded that it could have been a drug, such as the anti-anxiety medicine Xanax. He also mentioned chloroform, but seemed to discount that possibility.
Casey’s mom, Cindy Anthony, said this was the first time she’d heard those sentiments from her husband. I do not want to imagine what the atmosphere in their marriage is like after this aired. It’s incredible to me that these people are talking to the media at all, and even more surprising that they are giving such different accounts of their family’s tragedy.
Meanwhile, Caylee’s death remains a mystery. Cindy Anthony says she feels justice was served when her daughter was acquitted, but real justice for that little girl would mean finally answering the questions about what happened to her.
