10 Ridiculously Epic Parenting FAILS: Which Is the Worst?
Humans do some pretty ridiculous things. They range from silly, to senseless, to totally and utterly stupid. And it just makes it way worse when there are innocent bystanders (the kids) being dragged down with them.
These days stupid missteps are referred to as a ‘FAIL’. The Urban Dictionary defines it as “either an interjection used when one disapproves of something, or a verb meaning approximately the same thing as the slang form of suck.” And these ten ridiculous parenting FAILS, we disapprove of ‘em and they totally and epically suck.
Check out this list of 10 epic parenting FAILS here.

goddess commented on Jul 21 11 at 8:40 amI don’t think Katie Holmes and Suri’s candy ranks anywhere close to the rest of these. Geez, it was candy, not Spanish Fly and they didn’t even notice it was a penis shape.
Maggie commented on Jul 21 11 at 9:41 amCouldn’t we please go back to the one-page format? The filmstrips load so slowly I rarely get to read them all, and often have trouble getting the point. Lots of us have slow connections or unreliable connections. Does strollerderby really want to assure us that we don’t count?
If you give me a one-page article I can tell it to load, go refill my coffee, and come back and read it. But not this nonsense of loading one picture and one sentence at a time.
Maybe I should just stop reading strollerderby. This is not new feedback, and I am not the only commenter to mention it. Why are you folks ignoring us?
Babble Editors commented on Jul 21 11 at 11:03 amHi Maggie,
Thanks so much for your feedback! Most of our Strollerderby posts are one-page format, however, we will occasionally run things in slideshow format when appropriate. We’ve changed the arrow location to make the format better for our readers and hope to have an even better user experience for you soon. -Babble Editors
SunnyChanel commented on Jul 21 11 at 11:17 amYou know, I was on the fence on the Katie Holmes one…we replaced it with a woman who tried to sell her baby on eBay. Klassy.
Maggie commented on Jul 21 11 at 11:48 amYou know, it’s interesting to hear that you “occasionally” run slideshows “when appropriate”. Now that I waited for every one of them to load, NONE of these pictures is necessary for the story and only two of them are even interesting.
More than half of the strollerderby stories that looked interesting on my blogroll this week have had slide shows. From my perspective changing the arrow location is correcting the tiniest piece of the problem.
What drives the desire to use slideshow format in the first place. Are you guys getting paid per ‘click’ or something?
goddess commented on Jul 21 11 at 12:51 pmOK- now I can get on board with the whole list, Sunny, LOL!
SunnyChanel commented on Jul 21 11 at 3:59 pmHa! Thanks Goddess!
Manjari commented on Jul 21 11 at 4:02 pmI’d like to add my voice to what Maggie’s saying, even though I know it won’t make a difference.
Diana Wright commented on Jul 21 11 at 4:34 pmalot of people name there children cain, and alot of other notorias names linked to murder, rape, pedophilia etc , cain from the bible who killed his brother, a name is a name, the parents liked its meaning and may or may not be racists i dont know. but if everyone went on that silly notion that a name links to crime then no one would have names for there children and call them it as you dont hear it doe being a murderer now do you? i wonder how many parents are going to change there childs name because they named there child casey same name sake as casey anthony? i feel bad for the children and parents, we all do epic fails from time to time, like leaving a bear bottle in a childs reach and he drinks the hole bottle, to allowing them to get near a hot stove after it has been used and they scorch themeselves. obvously these parents have issues that need to be addressed and parenting classes but dont we all?
mama b commented on Jul 23 11 at 12:31 pmI have to say I also can’t stand the slideshow format. FAIL.
Deana Tauberschmidt commented on Jul 26 11 at 9:44 pmOkay I wouldn’t name my child after ANYONE remotely like Hitler … but seriously people??? Come on now this IS their right to name their child as THEY see fit! We may not agree … but it is their right!
Katie C commented on Jul 26 11 at 11:57 pmAnother vote against the slideshow. It makes these posts impossible to read on a mobile device.
Dolores commented on Jul 27 11 at 12:23 pmI agree with Maggie–the slideshow format isn’t great. And while I haven’t been reading on this page for very long, I find it hard to recall reading even a handful of articles that were in full-page format. I guess we are mom’s from the actual “book reading” age of information, we can handle more than just a sentence or a phrase at a time. We actually have the attention span–most of the time–to handle the full page format.
