Mom Escapes Carjacker By Jumping Out Of Car, Holding Baby
Would you jump if you had to?
Move over Superwoman… a Maryland woman displayed her own incredible super powers when she was carjacked yesterday.
The new mom was at a gas station when a man jumped into her car and proceeded get onto a highway, while the mom held her 20-month-old baby in her arms.
“I asked him to pull over a thousand times. When I saw the Northern Virginia sign, 495 West, I’m like ‘oh my gosh he’s going to take me to Virginia and rape me and kill me with my son watching,’ said the woman who asked not to be identified.
Facing the choice of staying inside the car with the carjacker, or making an escape, the mom carefully cradled her baby and jumped out of the moving car. She suffered a cut on her head but miraculously no further injuries and the baby was not hurt at all.
The suspect, 22-year-old Terron Alvin White of Baltimore, was later part of police chase after he side swiped a police cruiser. White eventually pulled over and was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding police, hit and run, and negligent driving.
While this mom displayed incredible courage and was lucky to have kept her baby and herself safe, I can only imagine was a terrifying experience it was for her. Her decision had to be made in a split second when she realized she was leaving the state. Thank goodness, this story ended well. It’s been a horrible week for parenting news, and it’s comforting to see a happy ending.

As a mom, I put her life before mine, and will do anything to keep her safe. I am so happy that this story had a happy ending. She is very blessed.
