4-Year-Old Boy Thrown From Moving Car By His Own Father
Little Angel had over 500 cactus spines in his body when police found him.
You hear a lot of horrible situation when you cover parenting news, but this story is pretty disturbing. A Texas father was driving on the highway during the night when he said he heard God tell him to choke his son and throw him out of the moving car, and that’s just what he did.
Luckily, the boy was found by Texas police who say it was one of the worst cases he has seen:
“I’ve seen a lot of bad things,” Sweetwater Police Chief Jim Kelley. “This is absolutely a first. I’ve never seen a 4-year-old angel left on the side of the road for dead.”
Four-year-old Angel Flores was found by Al Hunt, a local high school basketball coach who was driving down the highway around 3am when he noticed the boy. The child had bruises on his neck and over 500 cactus spines stuck in his body.
“He didn’t say a word to me,” said Hunt. “He didn’t say a word to anybody. He never said a word.”
The boy’s father Carlos Rico was arrested just hours later and charged with child endangerment. He was held on $50,000 bail. There was no history of abuse according to police, and the father’s charges may be upgraded to attempted murder because the boy is less than six years old.
I hope the charges are changed. It most certainly was attempted murder. The 4-year-old was left to die on the highway and had been wandering around for hours before he was found, injured and full of cactus spikes. Rico deserves to have the book thrown at him.

LBH commented on Jun 30 11 at 10:14 pmabsolutely horrifying. I sense that an insanity defense is on the horizon, and who knows, maybe Dad is crazy, but my heart breaks for that little boy and I hope Dad goes away for a long long time.

Donna commented on Jul 02 11 at 11:33 pmHearing command hallucinations is not that uncommon for some people with schizophrenia. So to him, it probably was coming from God. I guess that would make him “nuts”.
