I hate beauty pageants, period. But I think there is a special place in hell for moms who put their toddlers in pageants.
I’m sorry but I cannot understand any woman who would enter her toddler in a beauty pageant. Actually, no I’m not sorry. You should be locked up if you’re bleaching your kid’s hair, spray-tanning her, shoving a set of dentures in her mouth and painting her to look like a hooker.
What is wrong with you?
I just read this article in TV Guide, written by Rich Juzwiak, about how the mother of Toddler’s & Tiara’s star Eden Wood thinks people just don’t get it. Because her daughter, Eden, totally loves pageants. Here’s what Mickie Wood told TV Guide:
I respect people’s opinions, but does that mean I’m going to change if I know this is something my child enjoys and loves? I don’t care. It’s irrelevant to me. We are strong in who we are, but as long as Eden is happy, I don’t care. Educate yourself about something before you run your mouth on something you may have not even ever been to. Now, if she decided tomorrow that she wanted to do gymnastics or be a rodeo girl, I want to give her every opportunity to experience what life has within the boundaries of being a good parent. We’re not weirdos, we’re not freaks, so I don’t care what people say.
Your daughter doesn’t love it, Mickie. She’s miserable but doesn’t know any better. But Mickie claims that torturing Eden with hair pieces and eyebrow waxing and sexing her up is her job as a good parent. “Why would it benefit to traumatize my child? On the other side of that coin, every parent’s job is to see what their child excels at. It’s our job to pick up on those subtle nuances that they hint to us at an early age. It just happens to be that this is what Eden is all about.”
Seriously? SERIOUSLY? Eden gave you the cues at one year-old that she wanted to be in pageants? This is a step above child porn. Have you watched these poor little girls shake it on stage as they imitate their creepy moms in the audience?
But it doesn’t look like Eden will catch a break any time soon. As mom tells it, she’s focusing on the big time now. “Eden is in a different place now and she wants to be a performer, an entertainer. We’ve really slowed down and are focusing on what she wants to do, which is to be onstage. It doesn’t have to be in a pageant. We finished the last three songs on her album and we’re getting ready to go on tour “.
On tour? SHE’S SIX!
As Strollerderby has previously reported, experts are worried about the effect not just beauty pageants, but actually filming the show will have on these poor little girls. Dr. Nancy Irwin, a Los Angeles-based psychotherapist, told Fox News that these parents are “selfish…spoiling their children, and training them that their value is based on their beauty.”
Some experts worry about the long-term psychological effects of being on the show. Others say that children aren’t old enough to understand what it means to consent to participate in pageants and be filmed for TV.
Did you really need an expert to tell you that?
What I don’t understand is why Child Protective Services isn’t banging down the Wood’s front door. This crap makes me sick and children under 16 participating in beauty pageants should be illegal.
What do you think? Are you going to tell me about pageants are wonderful for self-esteem? How they engender poise and turns girls into young ladies? Watch the clip below before you leave your comment.

Brandi commented on Jun 16 11 at 12:44 amThe pagents on that reality show are sick & twisted & what those parents put their children through is a form of abuse in my opinon. HOWEVER, not all pagents are like this. Many child pagents are all natural (the only thing you’re allowed is hair spray) & their dress must be age appropriate. The tv show only shows the extreme side of pagents.
Allison commented on Jun 16 11 at 12:51 amHave you ever noticed that 95% of mother’s that place their kids in pageants are actually quite unattractive themselves? I am not necessarily saying this to be mean, but I think there is something to that. These woman are absolutely acting out a fantasy that they themselves (in their adult lives) could not fulfill. They really are living vicariously through their daughters. And what is going to happen in a few years, when those cute 4 year olds turn out exactly like their weighty and unattractive mothers — how are they going to handle that when they have been taught from a very young age how important their looks are?
SubWife commented on Jun 16 11 at 12:52 amI do not understand why this is not considered child abuse. I could understand talent shows, but beauty pageants? For kids who pretty much have no say on the matter? Utterly disgusting.

Tzippy commented on Jun 16 11 at 8:05 amTruly disgusting. Beyond disgusting. There are no words to describe how awful it is to do this to children. I have to believe that the parents of these poor babies are very very ill. Someone should put a stop to this!
cassidy commented on Jun 16 11 at 9:02 amsickening. why teach children that young that beauty is all external. don’t we fight that impression from society enough already? truly sickening. I have enough trouble with my 12 year old trying to teach her that she’s beautiful exactly the way she is. :( YUCK!!!!!!
Rosana commented on Jun 16 11 at 9:43 amI have never watched one episode because I had enough from the commercials alone Ugh!
Gretchen Powers commented on Jun 16 11 at 9:49 amThe thing is, they’re not even beautiful. They look like Miss Piggy.
Holly commented on Jun 16 11 at 10:08 am@gretchen – exactly. They look bizarre. Beyond the whole concept of teaching them that beauty is all-important and getting them to “compete” and do very unnatural things…they look like freaks. People went nuts about Botox mom, and yet spray tan etc is cool on a 4 year old?
I agree, too, that the moms should examine their own esteem issues. Maybe less time and money spent on whoring up your kid an a little more time on yourself might put things in better balance. Wait for the day that little Eden tells her mama that she’s fat or ugly and therefore not worth being kind to. Neither person wins.
Bunnytwenty commented on Jun 16 11 at 10:46 amWhile I agree thoroughly that T&T and child beauty pageants are an alarming phenomenon, it really bothers me that a lot of commenters on this and past posts are criticizing the looks of the pageant moms. I mean, what – you just want girls to get to an acceptable age before their appearance is the only thing that’s important about them? Gross.
(And please, don’t make excuses about being worried for the “health” of obese women. It’s all about appearances, and “health concerns” are a smokescreen that people use to excuse being cruel to women about their weight. Sure, obesity is unhealthy, but thin people engage in many of the same habits that obese people do, and they’re equally unhealthy at any size, whether your bad habits stick to your body or not.)
purenergy commented on Jun 16 11 at 11:11 amI agree that the reality show Toddlers and Tiaras shows the worst side of pageants. They select the most obnoxious mothers and daughter strickly for shock and ratings.. The little girl Ava that they picked for queen is a natural beauty. She didn’t have the fake hair, lashes or nails. I wonder why she didn’t get more footage.
Diera commented on Jun 16 11 at 11:44 amWhile I would never watch the show and find the whole phenomenon creepy, I think it’s ridiculous to equate it to genuine child abuse and call for CPS to remove children from their parents for spray tanning them or coloring their hair. Can’t you just say you think it’s icky? On what possible grounds could a child be removed because of pageant participation? CPS is not supposed to be in the business of preventing less-than-ideal childraising.
jeneria commented on Jun 16 11 at 12:38 pmI watch the show precisely because the mothers and children are mostly horrible horrible people. And I find it fascinating that no one wants to acknowledge how sexualized these little girls become. Not only do they look like 40 year old politicians’ wives, but they flirt and prance and act like coquettes with the judges! And no one says a word! I hate all the pink, too. I’m sick of pink. Girls can wear other colors, people!
.
A season or so ago they had a little girl from Florida on whose talent involved her handling snakes on stage. I thought that little girl was so adorable and sweet.
Bunnytwenty commented on Jun 16 11 at 1:00 pmAgreed with Diera. It isn’t going to help these kids any to put them in the already-overburdened system that’s there to help kids who are actually being physically injured, or neglected. What these moms are doing sucks, but a lot of stuff that a lot of parents do sucks – it doesn’t mean that the state is better-equipped to raise their kids.
Claire Ortwein commented on Jun 16 11 at 1:31 pmAs I skimmed the collected comments, I didn’t see anyone mentioning $$$$$. Not how much it costs to compete (though of course, that’s absurd) but the knowledge that many parents are hoping to wind up with a cash cow is revolting. Last night Eden’s mom said, point blank, with a huge snarky smile, that she was excited about Eden’s probable show biz success, and couldn’t “wait til the millions start rolling in.” I think of Judy Garland and other child stars, and what miserable lives they led when the studios called the shots. I’d really like to see what Eden and Makenzie are up to in 15 or 20 years. Assuming they’re not in prison for murdering their mothers.
Danielle commented on Jun 16 11 at 2:56 pmBeauty pageants are stupid, and pointless in the first place IMO. But if a grown woman wants to participate in that kind of thing, that’s her choice. Years ago, little girl pageants were a little more sane: It was pretty much chance for little girls who like to get all dressed up, be in front of people, perform and show off to do just that. But when did it become more than a little makeup, a nice hair do, and a pretty dress? How did it get to tanning, fake teeth, fake nails, hair dying, a full makeover, and spending a a thousand dollars per pageant?? Why do some of the judges actually LOOK FOR THIS STUFF?! Last episode the pageant coordinator specifically said they are looking for a tan. WTF?! And what is with this “most beautiful” award?! Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder, and a room full of little girls should never have to stand there, and hear one girl told she’s the most beautiful of them all. God, this would be hard for a woman of any age. Ouch. I think they judge on all the wrong things in these pageants. Girls with the fanciest hairdo, prettiest face, prettiest dress, and most perfectly polished strut and facial expressions (which actually look pretty ridiculous, and even odd) has the best chance to win. Nice…. And when they get older, it will be even more grueling to keep up. They better pray their metabolism stays high, don’t end up with a small chest, or get a little facial hair, or anything like that.
Claire Ortwein commented on Jun 16 11 at 3:55 pmI’ll be the first to vote that Makenzie can be a royal brat, but I have laughed at a few of her one-liners for a couple of years. (Yeah, and whose fault is it she’s so high-strung, almost like being hopped up on a drug? Of course all the Red Bull and Pixie Stix weren’t doing her any favors.)
But last night when she finally realized she’d won nothing, that she’d be going home without a crown, or a trophy, or the $1,000, her reaction was rather heartbreaking to watch. I don’t think even the ni-ni would have helped the situation. She cried as though her mom and her dad and her aunt and her dog had all just died in a car wreck. She was simply devastated. Thanks a lot Mom!!
Kel commented on Jun 16 11 at 3:56 pmI laughed out loud when I saw Eden’s mom describing her tour– to malls. When she “performed in Hollywood” on the show, it was on the street. She’s basically going to be a street performer, performing in front if uninterested and unimpressed audiences…
Linda,T.O.O. commented on Jun 16 11 at 6:16 pmI’ve never watched the show, because the subject matter doesn’t interest me, however a few years ago a couple of the moms of girls in my daughter’s dance class were heavily in to the pagent circuit. These people were single mothers who worked minimum wage jobs (a child care worker and an elder care provider) and they were spending money they didn’t even have on pageant entry fees, dresses, and travel. It was sick. And the bottom line was that their daughters were (are) just typical looking. The one is still completely convinced that her child is going to be the one who is “discovered” and will become famous and the kid’s whole life is set up around this premise. I recently saw this girl at a roller derby bout my daughter was in (she was with a friend who was on the team) and she said whistfully, “This looks like so much fun, but I can’t risk getting the bruises.”

Dukegirlforever commented on Jun 17 11 at 11:00 amAnyone who thinks these pageants are anything but gratification for the mothers, who are living out their fantasies through their poor little girls, are living in a fantasy themselves. If these mothers really had the best interest of their children in mind when they started this they wouldn’t have started brainwashing the poor kids when they were too young to know what normal is. It’s disgusting This little girl Eden just finished an album??? She can’t sing, I heard her on the show – she can’t sing, she has no talent. What’s she going on tour for? What she should be doing is going to school and playing with kids her own age and experiencing being a six year old child. One day they will turn against their mothers, when they grow up and realize that they had their childhood stolen from them by these self centered women. How many actors do you know that started out in pageants when they were infants, can anyone name one?
alexis commented on Jun 17 11 at 1:32 pmI think that all parents are different. You need to let them do what they want to do. As long as the kid doesnt overrun there life and think theu can control there parents, they got another thing comin. Just worry about you and your child. Dont sit there cursing out parents who let there daughters do that. If they want to do it, and they really want to do it then let them. I do agree that Eden Wood shouldnt be goin on tour because she hasnt even gotten to kindergarten yet. (I dont think). But she is six. She shouldn be doing that. Wait till she is older. She is too young to be exposed to that type of stuff. Even though im not against pageants, I find its a way for girls who hate themsekves and dont think there beautiful, should do it.
alexis commented on Jun 17 11 at 1:50 pmAnd yes I do agree that Eden Wood isnt that talented. But with time she will get better and mature. But yah she doesnt need to be going to tours. Because you never know how many freaks or sex mallesters are out there?! But i was watching one were a girl named kaykeigh her parents didnt allow her to do any of that stuff. But she still one the whooole thing. But when my daughters born im gonna put her in pageants. And i agree that meckenzie waws a real brat. But she was cute. Like not all of the girls in toddlars & tiaras are all brats. But it did make me sick when one lady shaved a 7 year olds legs and died her hair.”Whatever my daughter says, goes!” The mom quoted. But only when little girl talk back and and misbehave then thats what makes me mad. The girls look like barbie dolls. But im not against it. I love beauty pageants. It makes the girls think there a princess like cinderella. But I dont care what you say. Everyone is different. And they parent differently. Let them do what they want to do.!:-) I do agree some people go pverboard though!!!!!!!!
alexis commented on Jun 17 11 at 2:11 pmAs my mom always says doesnt matter what you do. As long as your making money!!!!!!!!
Ivan commented on Jun 18 11 at 4:05 pmHow is any of this healthy? This is really sick, pathological, abusive behavior. The mothers need therapy to get over their insecurities and feelings if inadequacy. Haven’t these mothers heard of Jon Benet Ramsey?! There are men who watch their daughters on television and masturbate. These sick men see these little girls as “women”, and the mothers don’t help by putting makeup on these girls and letting them run their households.
Any household with a pagent girl is run by THAT LITTLE GIRL. Everything centers around that little girl; so the girl cannot grow up in a healthy way, because she has not learned to deal effectively with rejection or situations where they are not in control or are not the center of attention. Furthermore, tiara (debutant) society is realy a CULT. The girls tend to lack social skills and cannoit keep jobs. They get into drugs and prostitution, etc.
When was the last time you heard of one of these little girls going on to become the next Nicole Kidman or Halle Berry? NEVER, because it doesn’t happen! They don’t become Cindy Crawford. They don’t become accomplished artists and public servants like Condoleeza Rice. Hell, they don’t even become Sarah Palin. They become drug users and prostitutes, or, at the very least, outcasts (at school, in their churches and otherwise).
The ones who manage to scratch out reasonably healthy lives cannot stay married. They focus on luring rich men, so they can continue being spoiled, and their relationships are unhealthy. Their homes are wrecks, and they have poor parenting skills. Hence, they not only prevent their little girls from growing into socially well-adjusted human beings, they promote a cycle of dysfunction.
I have seen some of these pagent girls all grown up, and they are almost never a pretty sight, figuratively or literally.
Lisa commented on Jun 19 11 at 5:00 pmOh my god, I just watched one of these shows and was horrified. Someone needs to call CPS on these childrens parents for child labor exploitation because they kids OBVIOUSLY don’t care about doing it. Is the IRS monitoring where their winning funds are going? Are these parents being taxed on these winnings? I truly believe these parents are making every pedophiles fantasies come as close to real life as they can by displaying their children in age inappropriate clothing, makeup and choreography. Truly these parents are dysfunctional and these children will be equally as dysfunctional in their adulthood. Someone should ban these shows and pageants, this is dispicable and should be illegal.
Lisa commented on Jun 19 11 at 5:21 pmHas anyone thought of trying to stop these pageants and show by filing a petition against it?
jasmine commented on Jun 20 11 at 11:21 amNO! Cuz its a way for kids to have fun. And how in the world are not you lisa but the girl who wrote the article gonna know if eden doesnt like it. Your retarted if you say that because umm hello your not her mother you dont live with her your not her. So why in the heck are you saying eden hates it? If she hated it dont you think that she would have said no. And dont say crap excuses like oh well she too young she doesnt know. She is 6. I saw a 4 year old tell her mom say mom i dont want to do this anymore and they didnt. So stop talking about these parents and starty worrying about your self. I agree with evberything alexis says. And heres a thot. Stop watching the shows. OK? And stop worrying about the parrents and talking about that. You know god dont like ugly. But forget about that stuff if you dont like it. BUT I LIVE EE. SHE WILL DEFINATLEY BE FAMOUSE ONE DAY. O WAIT SHE ALREADY ALMOST IS. AND BEST BELIEVE ILL BE AT ONE OF HER SHOWS EITHER BY MYSELF OR WHEN IM OLDER WITH MY DAUGHTER. AND IM DEFINATLEY GOING TO PUT MY DAUGHTER IN PAGEANTS. I LOVE EDEN SHE IS SO CUTE. AND FUNNY. SHE MAKES ME LOL!!!!!!:-) But dont start judging me and cussing me out.
Maricela commented on Jun 22 11 at 12:39 amI can’t believe that this show is allowed to air. This is child abuse! How can they allow these moms to wax this infants eyebrows, tan them, dye their hair, and then dress them like hookers, prostitues and sluts!
If this is a beauty pageant WHY are they made to wear these dentures, and tan and crap! Are you kidding me!
These moms should be ashamed of themselves! Their pathetic. They should go on stage and dress like these.
I’m waiting for child services to get involved.
jackie aikin commented on Jun 24 11 at 10:55 pmTHIS PROMOTES CHILD PORN AND ABUSE. SICK PERVERTS WATCH THIS, SEXUALIZING LITTLE GIRLS FOR THE SAKE OF MEDIA MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. THIS IS NO DIFFERENT THAN CHILD PORN, THESE GIRLS ARE ACTING LIKE WOMEN AND WEARING BIKINI’S. THEY ARE BEING SEXUALY MANIPULATED BY THEIR UGLY UNEDUCATED, RETARDED PARENTS. DON’T THESE IDIOTS, LAW MAKERS AND THE MEDIA KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING? THEY DO, IT IS CALLED MANIPULATION AND MENTAL AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN A DIFFERENT FORM. AND WE WONDER WHY CHILD PORN IS MAKING BILLIONS ON THE INTERNET. WTF THE US COUNTRY NEEDS TO WAKE UP AND MAKE LAWS AGAINST THIS. WE NEED TO RALLY, CLOTHES ARE GETTING OUT OF HAND FOR ALL AGES OF GIRLS. EVEN THE SCHOOLS DO THIS TO GIRLS AND WE ACCEPT IT. WHY DON’T WE DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!
jackie aikin commented on Jun 24 11 at 11:02 pmWOMEN’S RIGHTS HAVE GONE BACKWARDS, INSTEAD OF BEING EQUAL, WE ARE BEING SEXUALIZED EVEN AS BABIES. DO PEOPLE KNOW, PEDOPHILIA IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH TODAY’S WORLD AND EVEN BABIES ARE BEING SEXUALLY ABUSED? i GUES PEOPLE NEED TO BE IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE WORLD TO SEE OR OPEN THEIR EYES AND LOOK IT UP. WATCH NANCY GRACE GIRLS AND WOMEN EVERYWHERE ARE GOING MISSING AND THAT IS JUST WHAT YOU SEE. HUMAN TRAFFICKING IS BIG WITH KIDNAPPINGS AND MANY RAPES, THE MEDIA MOLDS MINDS. SOCIOLOGY (SOCIETY AND WHAT WE DO AND ACCEPT) CHANGES OUR NORMS AND MORALS, THEN THE PSYCOLOGY (PEOPLE PERSONAL THOUGHT AND BEHAVIOR) IS ALTERED AND BECAUSE OF THIS WE HAVE OUT OF CONTROL CRIMES.
jackie aikin commented on Jun 24 11 at 11:12 pmDO NOT WATCH THE SHOW OR LOOK IT UP! WHEN YOU DO, YOU ADD TO THE RATINGS AND MAKE THE SHOW A BIGGER HIT. LETS NOT JUST STAND BACK. SOMEONE NEEDS TO LET US KNOW HOW WE CAN RALLY AND FIGHT THE ISSUES. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW IN A WORK PLACE TO BE SEXUALLY HARRASED, BUT THE MEDIA DOES IT TO WOMEN AND GIRLS EVERYDAY. THIS IS THE WORK FOR CAPITAL GAIN. LIFE IS ABOUT LOOKS AND HOW MUCH MONEY WOMEN WILL SPEND TO LOOK GOOD. WE CAN’T GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT HAVING PARTIAL NUDITY IN OUR FACES. WE NEED TO STAND UP AND MAKE A STAND. MANY IDIOT WOMEN THINK IT IS OKAY, BUT THEY CARE FOR NOTHING BUT THEIR SELVES. THEY ARE MANIPULATED WOMEN, IGNORANT OF CRIMES, OR HAVE BEEN RAPED. WHY DOES EVERYONE WANT TO BE FAMOUS? WHERE IS THE REAL FAMILY PROGRAMMING. WHAT HAPPENED, THE UNITED STATES USE TO STAND TALLER AND WE HAVE FALLEN TO DEVIANCE. WE TAKE IN AND CLAIM FREEDOM OF SPEECH, BUT THIS IS NOT WHAT FRREDOM OF SPEECH WAS INTENDED FOR. OUR FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS WERE FOR US TO BELIEVE WHAT WE WANT AND TO FIGHT FOR WHAT WE BELIEVE, AND WE CAN DO WHAT WE LIKE AS LONG AS THERE IS NO IMMINANT DANGER AND DEVIANT BEHAVIOR IS IMMINANT DANGER, SO THAT IS NOT A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT. IF IT OFFENDS SOCIETAL CODE, IT SHOULD BE DEEMED ILLIGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jackie aikin commented on Jun 24 11 at 11:17 pmTHE US HAS SILENCED ALL OF SOCIETY AND ALLOWED TO TAKE AWAY FROM TRUE FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!!!!!!!! THEY ALLOW THE SICK MINDS TO RULE THE WORLD.. AND MANY IN THE MOVIE AND MEDIA WORLD ARE SICK MINDED AND PERVERTED!!!!!!!!!!
Nanlisa commented on Jun 28 11 at 7:09 pmThese parents need to have their heads examined! Fake tans, fancy hairdos, make-up. and Las Vegas showgirl-type outfits on a two or three-year-old! This is crazy! They want their precious little darlings to become the next Britney Spears, J. Lo, or even Lady Gaga.
They are exposing their kids to the dangers of show business at such an early age. Show business is not all glamour and excitement. It’s a dog-eat-dog business with a one and million chance that you’re going to make it. You can be on top of the world one day, and then down at the bottom of the heap the next day.
Perhaps these parents should read the stories of some of these former child stars whose lives were destroyed by drugs and alcohol, typecast and rejected by Hollywood, got in trouble with the law, and ended up dead at a very young age.
Children are precious in the eyes of God. Parents are to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of The Lord. They should expose them to more age-appropriate activities. Just let kids be kids. If they want to enter talent contests or beauty pageants when they get older; that’s fine. Just let their beauty and talent be natural. Encourage children just to their best. Don’t push them into something that they’re going to regret.

JJ commented on Jul 05 11 at 6:52 pmMakenzie is a brat who needs some discipline.
Christy commented on Jul 09 11 at 11:27 amParents/coaches or anyone else should not be allowed to “coach” from the audience. If the childen do not know their routine or how to “walk” they should not enter the pageant or just go up and do what they do know what to do. If a parent even signals to smile, they should be disqualified or have major points deducted.
Children in dance, ball, or any other type of competition do not get or need the coaching these parents give their kids. Mickie Wood has performed for years in the audience and Eden is 6. Rarely we see a child who does their routine and walk without watching their helper to know every step to take.
Wil commented on Aug 03 11 at 9:44 pmA step above child porn?? Nooooo, this is child porn. These parents should be ashamed.
Susanne commented on Aug 03 11 at 10:01 pmLady, your daughter Olivia (#22 on August 03, 2011 at 9m EST, the family that has a pony in competition too), IS NOT spunky, dominent or mature. SHE IS A SPOILED BRAT! And that’s YOUR FAULT. NO CHILD should EVER raise their hands to ANYONE, especially their parents (which I’ve seen on this show). It’s not cutesy as Olivias mother thinks. No child is too young for discipline. especially Olivia! Grow up Mom, stop living through your children The back talk, words and comments that I’ve heard come out of these girls mouths is disgusting. For ANY mother (and I use the term “Mother” lightly), that tells her child that she’s not pretty enough without makeup or a certain outfit, hair extentions, tan or whatever, should be ashamed of herself.
Also, to hang Payton in front of her mother so a car painter can tan her in his shop is sickening to me. Then you let her run around bare foot in that filthy shop? What is wrong with you? Walking around with drum sticks in her mouth is real smart too on your part.
I must say though, Olivia and her mother take the cake. She is the rudest child I’ve EVER seen in my live!!!!!!!!! You don’t need Toddlers and Tiaras, you need SUPER NANNY. Look it up . . .
There are quite a few children that don’t even want to do this. These kids aren’t talented … they’re starring and copying the parents out front. You parents are abusive and MAKE ME SICK!
Haily is a pretty girl, but Dad you and Mom are clueless. You’re teaching your daughter how to dress like a tramp.

Susanne commented on Aug 03 11 at 11:01 pmWhat I don’t get is that some of these people live a step away from total poverty. Yet they’re spending thousand and thousands of dollars on this crap. Why don’t you use the money to paint your house, clean up the landscaping, do something special for the rest of your children.
BTW . . . Baylynn #24, is a sassy little brat. The sooner Mom and Dad learn how to discipline their child and stop taking her crap, then their daughter will be beautiful. The reason she messed up on her Rocky, Elvis and outfit of choice is because SHE HAS NO TALENT! Not only that but she’s a BRAT! Keep bribeing her with the gum, you MIGHT have a shot … I can’t believe she won anything.
Internal beauty is far better then the external beauty, that can be gone in a split second! Think about it . . .
Emerald #26, has that beauty internal and external!
Congratulations on Grand Supreme!
Allyson #43, NOW SHE HAS TALENT and beauty!
Good! job for Natural Beauty title!
The rest of you mothers … get a clue, REALLY . . .
Barb Annibale commented on Aug 07 11 at 5:17 pmThis should be called Pediphile Paradise. There is something very wrong with these parents. Children should be children not cosmetically turned into to tiny sexpots for sick and twisted men to ogle. The fathers should be even more ashamed to put these young girls on display. Show them in their natural beauty if you must put them on display. I also noticed that a great amount of the mothers are grossly overweight. Are they living vicariously through their daughters? These girls are very spoiled and think the world revolves around them. They will have many issues when they grow up, and I blame the parents.Being taught to be sexy as a little girl is sick and shameful and should be illegal.
Susanne commented on Aug 07 11 at 6:06 pmThis is the episode that really put the icing on the cake (08/07/2011). Makenzie (#19), 4 years old with a mouth on her that should be stiched closed! I’m sorry, but Mom & Dad (Juana & Jonthan), thlis is NOT cute nor is it acceptable for a 4 year old CHILD to be speaking or acting that way … You two need parenting classes and a spine. How do you allow this child to act and speak to you in such a discussting manner? OMG, she tried to bite a child and hit another one!
Your daughter spit in your face on this episode … AND YOU DO NOTHING!!!! What is wrong with you Juana? And take that stupid Ni Ni out of her mouth! Your child has a spit personality, with you she’s a rageing and an out of control, miserable BRAT. The fact that she CAN be nice and good on stage means at least she’s got a shot IF YOU DO YOUR JOB
On stage she completely changes to a differant person. Maybe she does have talent, but her talent would be so much better if you taught her some rules, amnners and disipline.
All she wants is attention … negative attention is still attention. It’s NOT too late for her … if you don’t start now, those little slaps she gives you will turn into punchs and things being thrown at you.
AND DAD … WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? ANYTHING?
Listen you guys, beauty is only skin deep. That attitude of hers makes her ugly … VERY UGLY! Smarten up and DO YOUR JOB AS A PARENT . . .

Jann Patterson commented on Aug 28 11 at 6:25 pmI agree with everyone who thinks that exploiting little girls and dressing them up to look like sex objects is completely wrong. I also think that the producers of the show are to blame even more than the contestents – who thought up this stupid idea anyway. The judges are to blame because they consent to judging these exploitation circuses. The advertisers are to blame because the finance these pedophile playgrounds. WAKE UP! Stop exploiting little girls. Make these types of shows and contests illegal.
Tara commented on Jan 21 12 at 10:12 pmWhen I was 3 I started dancing and by 4 I was competing. My mother then starting entering me in beauty pageants. I only did natural, no glitz. But they were my greatest childhood memories. Yes some of the parents go overboard, but it doesn’t matter what event your child is participating in that some parents go overboard. Just look at some of those parents that got into fist fights over a youth soccer game! Im just saying, don’t let some people misrepresent the event as a whole. Just from experience, I had a blast doing pageants and dance competitions as a child.
Nanlisa commented on Jan 31 12 at 8:10 pmElaborate hairdos! Fake tans! Make-up! Las Vegas showgirl-type outfits! Forcing them to practice and to perform on stage! These are not grown-up young women. These are precious and innocent little girls being forced into the demands and pressures of show business such a very young age. Their mothers (and yes, even their fathers) will do whatever it takes to make sure that their precious little darlings become the next Britney Spears, J. Lo. Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cirus, Janet Jackson, and even Miss America; at any and all costs. And if they don’t win the Ultimate Grand Supreme, or whatever the grand prize is, they will act like a bunch of little crybabies.
Show business is not all glamour and excitement. It’s a dog-eat-dog business! You may be on top of the world, and then down at the bottom of the heap the next day. Think of the tragic stories of some of these former child stars whose lives have been destroyed by drugs and alcohol; who got in trouble with the law, and even dead at a very young age.
These parents need to have their heads examined! They are turning their precious little girls into spoiled, filthy, rotten, and disrespectful little divas! They should put their kids into more age-appropriate activities. For heaven’s sakes! Let these kids be kids! Let them have a normal childhood. Don’t push them into something that they don’t want to do.
