Little girls – those that are of the girly girl variety – love a wedding dress. And they love Princesses. So when you mix a wedding dress, a princess and oodles of pomp and circumstance, little girls everywhere might explode in giddy joy and adoration.
For those girls raised on a heavy diet of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, the idea of a real life Princess is pretty cool. It’s a classic fairy tale story – a girl from a relatively humble background meets and married her Prince. A real live Prince, a marriage that will make her Queen one day.
So will little girl’s be swooning over Kate Middleton’s wedding dress?
Mine did, kinda. I sneaked out of bed in the wee hours of the morning to watch the wedding but my daughter is a light sleeper and as soon as I turned on the TV in the living room she woke up. But maybe it wasn’t the sound of the TV, but her princess loving radar going off. What did she say about the dress? Not much, she was half asleep. But she did mutter “i like it.” And many little girls will no-doubt have the same reaction, they will like it, but will they love it? Princess Diana’s – in comparison – was over the top. Kate Middleton’s? Simple, traditional, and one thing – not over the top.
