Net Flix: 5 Things to Watch with the Kids Right Now
You know what is really, super duper cool? The NetFlix watch instantly feature. Especially for us busy parents.
For those that aren’t in the NetFlix loop or aren’t already an avid subscriber, here’s how it works. Once you become a NetFlix member, you get the DVDs sent in the mail to you but you can also watch a variety of movies instantly.
You can watch the NetFlix offering as an instant stream on your computer or via gaming systems like Wii, Playstation 3 or XBox360. This is pretty cool for parents who let their kids indulge in some good old fashioned TV time. You don’t have to pay any extra On Demand type prices or run out to the DVD store, which on days when they’re sick home from school, really can come in handy. My own daughter was miserable with a cold recently and loved being able to watch a collection of Madeline cartoons. But one thing, the offerings are limited, but there are some gems. Here are 5 things to watch with the kids right now.
1) Toy Story 3
This Oscar nominated masterpiece is one kids love and tends to leave parents in tears, but still it’s pretty worthy.
2) Princess and the Frog
It’s a Disney princess with a work ethic! This completely hand drawn feature includes some great N’awlin lore as well as a variety of catchy tunes.
3) Up
Another Disney/Pixar hit, Up was a classic the moment it opened in theaters.
4) Wallace & Gramit
This British export is witty, funny and very watchable for both the kids and those adults who have to watch it with them.
5) Scooby Doo Movies
Okay, this is a personal guilty pleasure. When I was a kid I loved, and I mean really loved, Scooby Doo. And it’s a fondness I share with my daughter. A little popcorn, some hot cocoa, a big blankie and we’re set for the evening.
