Katie Holmes Explains Why Suri Was Holding A Box Of Gummy Penises
Earlier this month Katie Holmes and daughter Suri were out on the town in NYC and, as Rebecca Odes reported in Is It So Wrong To Let Your Daughter Eat A Candy Penis, 4-year-old Suri was spotted clutching a box of candy penises. You can check out the photos of Suri and her x-rated candy right here.
“I said, oh wow those aren’t Swedish fish.”
Holmes opened up about the gummy incident during a taping of The Ellen DeGeneres Show that airs today. As Us Weekly reports, Holmes said she took Suri to Serendipity, an ice cream place they always go to when in Manhattan. “It’s for kids. The clientele is children,” explains the actress, who plays Jackie Kennedy in the new ReelzChannel miniseries The Kennedys. “We go in and we are waiting for a table and she grabs some gummies that are boy part gummies. I was horrified.”
Holmes says she immediately knew the incident would be misunderstood. “She was holding the box and I was like ‘OK, wow we don’t need that right now.’ Because I thought if I said ‘Put that back,’ and then she’s going to say, ‘What is this?’ And I really didn’t want to have that conversation.”
Ultimately Holmes says she grabbed the box and put them back but tells DeGeneres she’s upset Serendipity was even selling such a raunchy treat. “I was like, why are selling these here? This is for kids. And then it was on the cover of a magazine that I’m giving her those gummies!”
Although she does seem to court controversy by providing her almost 5-year-old daughter with pacifiers and bottles, I can’t imagine parenting under a spotlight like that. If a camera followed me for just one day, my God, the horror. They’d catch me in at least twenty potentially scandalous predicaments.
So, while I’m still on the fence about a binky at five, Holmes gets a pass on the penis gummy incident.
