5 Browns Dad to Serve at Least 10 Years For Abusing His Daughters

The father of the piano group The 5 Browns was sentenced today to at least 10 years in prison following charges that he sexually abused his three daughters when they were younger.
In February, Keith Brown, 55, pleaded guilty to one felony count of sodomy and two felony counts of sexual abuse. He received 10 years to life on the first count and 15 years to life for each of the others, although the sentences will run concurrently and under the terms of a plea agreements, he will serve at least 10 years in a Utah prison.
Brown’s children — two sons and three daughters — comprise The 5 Browns, a group that has topped the classical music charts. The daughters, who are now adults, first reported the abuse last year, although the charges were filed just last week. An attorney for Brown said he was in discussion with prosecutors for the past half year, and that he is remorseful for what’s transpired. The sexual abuse incidents were said to be ongoing when they girls were 13 or younger.
The Brown daughters cut off their professional relationship with their dad in 2008 and are said to have wanted their dad to take responsibility for his actions. The 5 Browns recently said they would continue with their full touring schedule.
