Lady Gaga Sends C&D to Icecreamists Over Breast Milk Ice Cream

A costumed, Lady Gaga-inspired waitress tries Baby Gaga breast milk ice cream, served (ironically) with a bottle and teething biscuits.
They say there’s no such thing as bad press. We’ll see if that’s true for Icecreamists, the posh London ice cream parlor that has been under scrutiny of late for selling Baby Gaga breast milk ice cream. All prepared batches of the flavor were seized at the beginning of this month due to the threat of hepatitis contamination, but that hasn’t stopped pop singer Lady Gaga from sending Icecreamists a cease and desist letter.
Lady Gaga’s attorneys “sent the owners a legal letter asking them to stop using the name ‘Gaga’ in their ice cream, calling their concoction ‘deliberately provocative and, to many people, nausea-inducing,’ ” PopEater reports.
Proof that America’s squeamishness over breast milk rages on.
Icecreamists owner Matt O’Connor shot back at Gaga, saying, “For Lady Gaga to accuse us of stealing her image is laughable when you consider how much she has borrowed from popular culture to create her look and music.” (Ha.) He added, “She also seems to have forgotten that since the dawn of time the word gaga has been one of the first discernible phrases to come from a baby’s mouth. This is why we chose the name.” If the Icecreamsists are ever allowed to sell their breast milk ice cream again, perhaps they could call it Baby Goo Goo. Of course, then they might face a lawsuit from the Goo Goo Dolls.
O’Connor talks a good game, but the rationale he gives about the ice cream’s name seems questionable, especially since “when Baby Gaga first went on sale, women in Gaga-inspired garb served the ice cream,” according to PopEater. Lady Gaga says she doesn’t want to be associated with a product “which may be unsafe for human consumption (owing to the risk of it carrying such viruses as hepatitis),” but in reality that, too, seems like a mere excuse. It seems clear that Gaga just doesn’t want anyone making money off her name. In response to Gaga’s assertion that breast milk ice cream is distasteful, O’Connor says, “Perhaps she should reflect on her blood-spurting performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, or the fact she wears clothes fabricated from the flesh of dead animals.”
In other words, it’s okay to wear raw meat, but not to eat breast milk ice cream.
What do you think? Is the public perception of breast milk ice cream as dangerous and disgusting an indicator of how people feel about breastfeeding in general, or is eating ice cream made from someone else’s breast milk a separate issue?

Some people get a little famous and become all self-important!
“Ga-ga” also means losing your head over something or someone. Cos it seems to me people are going ga-ga over this ice cream!
