Baby Girl, Miracle Danielle, Born After Mother Was Fatally Shot
Tenishia Latham, 25, was 7-months pregnant with her fourth child, a child who would arrive two months early via the most unimaginably tragic of circumstances. Tenishia’s husband, 28-year-old Larry Latham, was arguing with an unidentified man in Clinton Township, Ohio. Apparently that man shot Larry as well as his pregnant wife. Neighbors say they heard a car pulling out and some yelling before a bloodied and dazed man began stumbling around and banging on doors for help.
As awful as the story is, it would have been much worse were it not for the heroic actions of the Lathams’ 9-year-old son.
For it was he who called for the ambulance after hearing the commotion. He managed to remain calm and report that his mom was not breathing and was bleeding from her head. He told the 911 operator that she was pregnant.
Ambulances rushed the couple to the hospital where Larry Latham is in critical condition, but where Tenishia was pronounced dead on arrival. Doctors still managed to successfully deliver her child, a 3-pound baby girl they are calling Miracle Danielle. The infant is being cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit.
The gunman is still at large. The family is urging that he turn himself in.
There will be no happy ending to this tragic story. But thanks to a 9-year-old boy, at least it won’t end as badly as it could have. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Latham family.
