Miss San Antonio Stripped of Crown for Gaining Weight
Does this 17-year-old look fat to you?
17-year-old Domonique Ramirez was recently informally stripped of her Miss San Antonio crown for violating her contract and gaining too much weight, according to ABC News. “A Bexar County judge Tuesday issued a temporary restraining order against the pageant’s promoters that for now keeps the organization from formally stripping Ramirez of her title,” the news outlet reports.
While the pageant board has some legitimate, also potentially fabricated, claims against Ramirez, suggesting the beauty queen “did not attend required events” and “showed up late to appearances,” stripping a 17-year-old of her title for gaining weight seems unacceptable. In footage of a press conference held this week, Ramirez stood and modeled what appeared to be a lovely size 6 frame. (I’m guesstimating on her size – the point being, she hardly seems to be “fat” by any standards.)
Linda Woods, the pageant board’s spokeswoman, told ABC Ramirez “was doing a photo shoot and asked to wear her wardrobe from the competition, but it did not fit her. I told her we need to get you on an exercise program. We need to get ready to compete for Miss Texas, just like any elite athlete.”
Haha – yeah – Michael Phelps trained for YEARS to be able to walk and wear a swimsuit at the same time.
Ramirez’s lawyer said “the board violated the terms of its contract and is punishing Ramirez for their errors.” The board was allegedly supposed to chaperon Ramirez to all required events – events her parents were not allowed to attend. Her lawyer claims that the board later told Ramirez she would have to “get to events on her own,” adding, “At the time she just turned 16, how is she supposed to get there without her parents?” The parties are due in court on Feb. 16.
