Arguments about money, chores and how to raise your children are common topics. But one conflict arises that is far less important than any of those but yet still gets people passionate and completely riles up. The issue is toilet paper. The great debate?  Whether it should be hung over or under.

Personally, I am an “over” person and it really bothers me when the toilet roll in hung under. And O know better. There are so many other things to be truly bothered by, and this really is totally trivial. But it’s some odd instinct that takes over when the roll is hung opposite of how I’m used to. So why do people care? Some say that it’s how you grew up which dictates how you like it in your own home. Did your mom hang it under? Then odds are you hang it under too. Therefore your children will hang it under, and so on and so on, creating generations of toilet roll underers.

There really is no “right way” to hang a toilet roll. Just preferences. But there is one way that it significantly more popular than the other.

According to an old survey from Toilet Paper World (and yes, there is a Toilet Paper World website) it’s been sited that “68% like to hang toilet paper with the first sheet going over the roll, while 25% prefer to hang the first sheet under the roll.”

What are you? A roll over or under or are you one of those rare breeds that don’t care?

OVER! And why would you want it under? It’s harder to get at! Luckily my husband agrees. Sometimes if I’m at someone else’s place and the roll is under, I might turn it around. Isn’t that annoying?!

hahaha this topic always makes me laugh. I am one of those rare breads that really doesn’t care if the toliet paper over or under. I remember this one time we were at my aunt’s house at the beach and my older sister put the toliet paper on wrong i believe she put it on under and my aunt prefers it over. Well my aunt had a mini-meltdown and to this day we still talk about the time at the beach and my aunt had a meltdown. My son who is 5 even knows this story and always brings it up and i can’t help but still laugh to this day.

I am a hard-core “over” person. I always insist on over, if someone else put the roll on wrong, I change it.
But, since I have 2 kids potty training I’ve been hanging it under because they think it’s great fun to spin the roll and when it’s “over”, the whole roll ends up on the floor. If I hang it under, it just spins. I can’t wait until the fun of spinning the roll has worn off. Back to “normal” it will be!

UNDER!! I had to do that so that my cats wouldn’t unwind the whole roll.

hehe I hang my toilet paper over and kind of prefer it that way. One time I hung it under and was given an earful by the misses – maybe that has something to do with it. And there is a Toilet Paper World, I buy trash bags, paper plates, and (you guessed it) toilet paper in bulk from them to save on weekly grocery bills.
