El Camino Real High: Another Shooting Outside an LA School
El Camino Real High School
Two Los Angeles-area schools are on lockdown after a police officer was shot in the chest outside El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills about an hour ago. The officer was shot while sitting in his car east of the high school campus; he was wearing a bulletproof vest and “was conscious and talking when he arrived at the hospital,” according to KTLA.
El Camino High School and Hale Middle School “have been placed under lockdown as a precaution.” Police are looking for “a white male with light brown shoulder-length hair wearing a dark bomber jacket and blue jeans armed with a semi-automatic handgun.”
No students were involved in the shooting. However, this incident takes place just one day after two students were shot accidentally by a classmate who brought a gun to Gardena High School.
CNN reports that the female student who was struck at Gardena is still in critical condition, but the male student will likely leave the hospital this week. The student gunman’s identity has still not been released.
