Good traits, slightly jealous

After astronomers at the Minnesota Planetarium Society announced they were changing the zodiac calendar today, everyone is buzzing with questions and possible identity crises.

Around here, my colleague John (ex-Sagittarius) is seeing his life choices in a new light — wondering if he’s really the free-spirited adventure seeker he once thought himself to be.

And he’s just one of many – millions – who might be feeling off tilt today. According to TIME magazine, 31 percent of Americans believe the astrological signs influence personality.

But take heart. What I’ve heard about the Ophiuchus sign so far, I really like. In fact, with a birthday of December 20th — just shy of the December 17th cutoff — I’m a little sad I didn’t make the jump myself.  Here’s the Ophiuchus update:

The Ophiuchus constellation is a man wrestling with a serpent and dividing his body in two (wait, it gets better).

“It is the only sign of the zodiac linked to real men, sharing traits with Imhotep, a 27th century BCE Egyptian doctor, and biblical Joseph.”

Ophiuchus turns out to be a healer, a doctor, a man of medicine, and a scientist. He is intellectual and enlightened — achieving high success and authority in life.

You can see why I wish I had joined John and Carolyn in the zodiac re-assignment. This sounds like a desirable sign, and one I’d hope for if I were to plan a baby according to the stars. Come to think of it, though, the very reason I like this sign (the scientist in me) would prevent me from doing just that.

As per Sierra’s earlier reporting today, the new sign dates are:

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus:* Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

So let me get this straight… we are going to change things from the way the Babylonians had it, but also add the new sign that they discarded 2000 years ago! Sounds to me like these people have had their heads way too far into the clouds, and want to have their cake and eat it too! Some people will do just about anything to get their names into the history books. This sounds alot like that guy on youtube that is convinced the moon is an alien space station hub, and the government conceals it by projecting a hologram onto the moons surface! Wackos!

okay not cool. one decision made by who-knows-who is NOT going to change our personalities and what we said we were our whole lives… it’s like someone saying all of a sudden “okay, you can’t have your name anymore… here’s your new name and deal with it!’ honestly.
BYE and STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF… (ahem)
a Gemini, a Taurus, a Pisces, a Virgo, another Gemini, and a Libra

Crap. Crap crap crap crap!! I do not at all like this change. For the most part, i hate change. And this doesnt work out so well. Scorpio only having what, a week? No no no. I’m a true virgo (and apparently a perfectionist), not a leo. I may have similar traits, but that’s the same for about everything. I might have something in leo, and in the ophiuchus…………… but okay here’s the deal:

A certain belief associates the constellation of virgo with the tragic Coronis, lover of the Greek god Apollo. Coronis was mortal and feared that the god would tire of her as she was aged, so she took another mortal, Ischys, as her lover. In his rage, Apollo shot her fatally, with an arrow.

That Coronis was pregnant at the time, did not stay the god’s sense of vengeance. Her child, Asclepius, was saved by Hermes, who delivered the baby on the funeral pyre. Entrusted to the care of Chiron, the child grew to become one of the greatest healers of ancient Greece.

and know who Asclepius is? ………….. OPHIUCHUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
