Ophiuchus: Is The New Zodiac Sign A Scam?
Rob Brezny says Ophiuchus is a scam.
Dear newly minted Ophiuchans, hold on to your horses. Or your old signs, at any rate. Astrology guru Rob Brezny of Free Will Astrology says the new sign Ophiuchus is a scam. In fact, he considers the whole new zodiac sign dates to be a fraud.
Basically, Brezny agrees with Paul Kunkle’s findings that the astrological signs as we know them don’t line up with the constellations they’re named after. He just says it doesn’t matter. Astrologers know the signs don’t line up with their astral counterparts, and they don’t care. What matters to modern astrologers is what the planets closer to home are doing. Our current sun signs correspond to the movements of planets in our own solar system just fine, Brezny says.
As he puts it:
In our work, the astrological signs are not defined by, nor do they have anything to do with, the stars or constellations. We’re completely focused on what happens in our own solar system. Our relevant data are the movements of the planets within a zone defined by the relationship between the Earth and Sun.
And that 13th sign? Forget about it, Brezny says. Astronomers use the purported 13th sign to discredit astrologers. Astrologers, on the other hand, have been getting along just fine with 12 for thousands of years.
Ultimately, it seems the choice is up to you. Do you believe in astrology? Does it have meaning in your life? When you heard the new zodiac sign dates, did you feel relieved to see you were in a new sign, or robbed of something that had meaning to you? As with most magical or spiritual practices, the best system is the one that works for you. Me, I’ll be sticking with Brezny and the old dates. If for no better reason than it will save me having to explain the whole thing to my kids.

Astrology has never been touched by astronomy, it involves pre-copunican models of the universe, which is why “Mercury can be in retrograde.” No planet ever actually moves backward in the sky, it just sometimes looks that way from earth. Nothing Astrological is scientific, its just myth draped in detail to make it more interesting for the meaning making machine in our brains. Breazy get that I think. He certainly writes as if astrology is more about symbol than fact.

It really has to do with morals and choices you make in your life and where you came from your background your genes your traits and teachings teachers. Some People need astrology to make themselves feel better. And it puts fear into people and let it control their brains keeping you from living your life. They’re millions of books on zodiac signs so much profit goes into this industry.. makes me wonder if it’s true what these people are writing about.. guess who really gives a damn when they are making money off of you. It’s a great way to control people’s minds. Seriously i’ve had someone reject me because im a gemini and that im a two face or whatever my sign apparently says i am..whhaat that person didn’t even give me a chance… Anyway bottom line … live life… Treat people how you would want to be treated. No matter what race you are. And goodthings will happen. Whatever sign you might be.. One more thing weren’t these 12 or 13 now zodiac sign just a story told eons ago?
