Cyber Monday offers great discounts on holiday gifts
It’s “cyber Monday”, the morning we all land back at our desks after the long Thanksgiving weekend and blow off work to shop online.
This “shopping event” is heavily pushed by retailers, many of whom are offering special deals to entice shoppers to break out their virtual wallets today.
Online shopping has a lot of advantages: It’s convenient. You can find anything you want, in any size you want, in any color you want. Comparing prices takes seconds. You never have to trudge out in the cold and deal with sales clerks or traffic.
On the downside, you can’t try anything on, compare the color of those curtains you’re ordering to the fabric swatch from your couch or get a feel for the wool sweater you want to buy your sister. You miss out on having individuals with expertise in the stuff they sell help guide you towards the perfect game for your nephew or musical instrument for your mom.
Which way do you prefer to shop? Are you chasing the best Cyber Monday deals today, or did you buy gifts at local shops over the weekend?
I try to buy local, when I buy gifts at all. The past few years, I’ve been really focused on homemade treasures and shared experiences with my loved ones. This year, though, I may take advantage of deep discounts and free shipping to do some shopping online.
