World's Largest Toddler

We talk a lot about the childhood obesity epidemic in the United States. But, in fact, the most obese child in the world lives in China.

weighs five times the average weight of his classmates.Hao XiaoAt 140 pounds, 3-year-old

Because of the toddler’s size, Xiao Hao was banned from several pre-schools because they feared he posed a danger to his classmates, according to The Sun.

Doctors haven’t yet been able to determine whether Xiao Hao suffers from a hormonal problem or has just been over-indulged. In China, people call this the “Little Emperor” syndrome referring to the way some families in China who spoil their only child.

Sadly, the boy is likely to have serious health problems unless he loses weight.

“He is not just overweight but very tall as well so we may be able to treat him if it really is hormonal,” said Dr Lu Hong from the Guangdong children’s hospital. “But he cannot remain like this or his heart will never stand the strain.”

Luckily, his parents have finally managed to find a school that will accept him. Of course, I hope Xiao Hao’s classmates don’t make fun of him, but I am guessing it’s inevitible. On the other hand, they may be too intimidated by his size to taunt him. Either way, it’s a sad situation.

Let’s hope the doctors get to the bottom of what’s going on with him.
