When Kids Ask Tough Questions…Refer to This Book
If your kids are at all like mine (and I’m guessing they are), their favorite question is “Why?”
Why does the moon shine? Why are there holes in swiss cheese? Why are people ticklish?
And if you’re like most parents, you don’t know how to answer these questions.
Luckily, Time for Kids has come to the rescue with “The Big Book of Why,” which features 1,001 facts and answers to questions kids commonly ask and adults can rarely answer.
The new book answers the above questions, as well as: Why do we have eyelashes? What’s the difference between a crocodile and an alligator? Why is the sky blue? What’s a black hole and what happens if you fall into one?
The book, which is geared to kids 8 and up, will be published tomorrow. Hopefully, your kids will find answers to all of their questions in it so they’ll stop asking you. Even better, the book is divided by subject areas such as humans, animals, environment/nature, technology, science and space, to make it easy to find the answers to your questions (there’s also a handy index).
You might end up borrowing “The Book of Why” from your kid so you can get a refresher course in history and science. Also, some of the facts make really good cocktail party conversation. For instance, did you know that infants blink only once a minute and that Japan has the highest life expectancy of any country (82 years)?

At my age there are still a few questions that I’d like answered. Actually, there are more than just a few. That one about infants blinking only once a minute is intriguing.
