It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s a Home Saved From Foreclosure!
A family facing foreclosure on their home was saved in the nick of time by none other than Superman. While packing boxes in their basement, they found a comic book, Action Comics #1, which features the man of steel’s debut.
Asylum reports that Stephen Fishler, co-owner of New York’s ComicConnect and Metropolis Collectibles, confirmed the book’s authenticity. It was an extremely valuable original, turning Superman into the recession’s kryptonite.
Fishler says the folio “should fetch upwards of $250,000 when it goes up for auction on ComicConnect,” enough to keep the family (who wishes to remain anonymous… for fear of waking the wrath of Lex Luthor?) in their home. Previous sales of an Action #1 have garnered upwards of $1 million. If you’d like to witness Superman saving real people’s lives, you can catch the comic on display at this weekend’s Comic-Con in San Diego.
