Bristol Palin Talks Motherhood on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”
It’s sort of ironic that Bristol Palin is appearing on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” since her teenage years have been anything but secret.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the 19-year-old daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will appear in Monday night’s episode of ABC Family’s ”The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” It’s her acting debut, but Palin says it came naturally since she’s playing herself.
“It was right up my alley,” said Palin. “I was pregnant the same time as the character, Amy, on the show, so I kind of felt like we went through the experience together.”
Critics have sniped that “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” glamorizes teen pregnancy. The same might be said for Bristol Palin. After all, most single, teenage mothers don’t get the opportunity to guest star on a primetime television show.
Brenda Hampton, the show’s creator said the scene where Palin talks about being the mother of a toddler “was written as a discussion between two teenage moms and Bristol Palin is the most famous teen mom in America. It just fit.”
In her appearance, Palin says, “We’re all teen moms.” Based on this brief cameo, I’d say she doesn’t have much of a future in Hollywood. Watch a clip from the show and see for yourself.
