The devastating suicide of young Phoebe Prince certainly illustrates how deadly teen bullying can be. No doubt parents need to get involved if their child is being victimized, but sometimes moms and dads are the last to know. Kids may be too embarrassed or frightened of the consequences to fill their parents in. So how can you find out if your kid is being verbally or physically pummeled? Experts at CNN have a few tips.

When did you stop playing with dolls? Back in the day, my friends and I played with our Barbie dolls well into what is now called the tween years. When we were five, we had Barbie playing mom and schoolteacher in our make-believe worlds. But was we got older, Barbie got younger and started going to parties and on romantic dates with Ken. Barbie was versatile that way and therefore the prefect plaything for a maturing girl.

I hate money. I don’t hate having it on the rare occasion when I do, and it’s the one thing I would probably hate less if I had more of it. But I hate thinking about it, stressing about it, wondering about the best way to manage it, etc.
But financial experts say this attitude is pretty harmful to my kids — that teaching them about money, and how to deal with it, is one of the best things we can do for them to start them on the right path in life. And given that my five-year-old just asked for an allowance, I found this week’s Wall Street Journal article on “15 Money Rules Kids Should Learn” enormously timely.

Sure, women have a tough time of it when they get pregnant — there’s all that weight gain, mood swings, and strange cravings (pickles and ice cream?). Clearly it’s not easy creating another life inside your own body. Don’t think for a moment, however, that guys have it completely easy during pregnancy. There’s a lot that goes on with them as well and, as if that weren’t enough, they have to deal with a pregnant woman for nine months.
