I can’t say one way or another on puberty age dropping or not, BUT I can say that I’m horrified – a child giving birth to a child is just wrong. And when I once read that same stat, 30%, school-aged girls, I assumed high school. Perhaps I was wrong. WTF is wrong with the world?

I’m not a mom, but the idea of children that young having babies sickens me. Actually, the main thing I want to do is find the men who put these girls in the situation to begin with and make sure they never do anything like this again. And then track down all the rest who aren’t being caught because the child hasn’t hit puberty yet.

My mother’s a paramedic, and she once delivered a baby from a twelve-year-old girl – still horrible.

9 is young, I’m surprised she had the baby, its not like its illegal or socially unacceptable to have an abortion in China (as well it shouldn’t be).
Girls as young as 6 being forced to marry old men actually happens often enough, but rarely is anything major done about it. In some Islamic countries, 9 is old enough to marry if a parent says they are “mature enough”, even to a 60yr old man. You can actually marry a 6yr old, you just aren’t suppose to connsumate until they are 9 or 10. And before anyone calls me a hate monger, recall that Mohammad married 7yr old A’isha, who went on to be one of the first Islamic scholars and Mohammads favorite wife.
Child brides/forced marriages are a cultural/religious thing for, but in the modern world this type of thing needs to be made extinct.

My daughter was born @ 24 weeks and started developing breast buds while she was in the NICU. Unfortunately, her pediatrician was unaware of the signs and mistakenly attributed them to the steroids. At the age of 2 she was officially diagnosed with precocious puberty. We were told if she was not treated she would begin menstruating by the age of 5. I believe environmental factors and the food supply are causing a lot of girls to enter puberty early. However, as with my daughter, many may have a medical condition that can be treated. If only doctors and parents were aware of the signs.
