Moms Can Out-Casual the Snuggie!
The grocery story may be banning moms in pajamas, but it looks like some moms have just found a way around it with a product that seems to out-casual the Snuggie.
Because while you really should keep that blanket with sleeves at home, the pajama jeans are made to be worn out and about. Er, we think?
Check out the video sent our way by a Strollerderby reader:
See! They’re supposed to replace the sweats at the supermarket! But what really surprised us? These “jeans” with the “high-contrast stitching, brass rivets and an unbeatable fit” aren’t being marketed completely to mom as the perfect solution to your sloppy attire.
I’m still waiting for someone to create a pair of PJs that are comfy enough for my daughter to wear to bed but would look perfectly acceptable if I took her to nursery school in them – for those days when she just . . . wont’ . . . get . . . dressed. Because we’ve all heard the “experts” who advise taking your kids to school in their PJs to teach them a lesson, but apparently none of them ever took their child to pre-school in upstate New York.
If I tried it, I dare say I might be arrested.
What about you?

Megg commented on Feb 05 10 at 9:38 amBoot-legged yoga pants. Okay, they’re still tracksuit pants, but they’re pretty presentable at the supermarket and are super comfy to sleep in – if that’s your thing. And I imagine would work the same for a pre-schooler.
jeannesager commented on Feb 05 10 at 9:41 ammegg – it’s funny that you say that! I wrote a piece here on Babble a few weeks ago about my new obsession with yoga pants for little kids: http://blogs.babble.com/droolicious/2010/01/12/why-yoga-pants-for-the-kids/
PlumbLucky commented on Feb 05 10 at 9:51 amI guess I just fail to see the lesson in taking a preschooler to school in his PJ’s if said preschooler doens’t want to get out of his Spiderman PJ’s ;-)
jeannesager commented on Feb 05 10 at 9:54 amPlumb – I hear you! I guess they think that your kids will be embarrassed by being seen in said spiderman PJs. Apparently they haven’t met my 4-year-old!
I also honestly think someone would call CPS on me if I took her out in her PJs in 4 degree weather!
Ballard commented on Feb 05 10 at 11:58 amOK, these pants are just silly. :) But I do have one of those preschoolers who won’t wear anything but yoga pants. She has been known to wear PJs out to restaurants (better than nothing), and gets SO excited whenever her preschool has “pajama day.”
JCF commented on Feb 05 10 at 2:41 pmWhen my little sister was in kindergarten, my mom took her to school one day in her pajamas, because she just wouldn’t get up and get dressed (for the umpteenth day in a row). My mom called the school that morning, spoke to the principal and got permission. She then took my sister to the front office, where the principal and school nurse dressed her, brushed her hair, fed her the banana and muffin my mom had sent, and talked to her about how important it is to get up and get to school in the morning. She never did it again. Needless to say, we went to a very good elementary school with an extremely supportive and caring faculty and staff. I know some kids wouldn’t care, but my sister was mortified and my mom had no more issues in the morning with her.
GP commented on Feb 05 10 at 3:56 pmI don’t get all this. My parents would have just threatened to whack us if we pulled that shit…and I’d do the same. You get a few chances to resist, say you don’t wanna and all that, but push me to the limit, and down you go.
Marj commented on Feb 08 10 at 11:20 pmI totally want these. My twins are 6 months old and nothing fits, nothing is comfortable and I look terrible and feel uncomfortable most of the time. Seriously – no springing back into form for this twin mom. I cannot go out in public in PJ pants like I’ve seen some do, and feel pretty dowdy in my track pants.
