RECALL ALERT: Another Stroller Snipping Fingers
Another stroller company is recalling its baby movers thanks to fingertip amputation – which officially brings us to three companies that can’t keep kids fingers safe.
So who’s the (un)lucky offender this week?
CYBEX. Their Ruby, Onyx and Topaz models of the umbrella stroller have been deemed a fingertip amputation and laceration hazards after a child suffered a fractured finger. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the stroller’s hinge mechanism poses a fingertip amputation and laceration hazard to the child when the consumer is unfolding/opening the stroller.
The strollers in question was sold in department and juvenile product stores nationwide between August 2009 and November 2009 for between $140 and $260.
Ironically, that’s significantly more expensive than the full travel systems recalled by Graco last week for the very same problem – so it seems you’re darned if you do spend the cash, darned if you don’t.
Parent company Regal Lager is asking parents to call the Company Service Center at 800-593-5522 between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday to get a repair kit for the hinge.
