Kermit the Frog Causes School Evacuation
A school closing and a bomb squad visit due to a mysterious package is not funny. Even when you learn that what was in the package was not a bomb but a stuffed Kermit the Frog doll, it’s still only a little humorous. It really isn’t until you get a look at the photographic evidence of the false alarm at a school in Lafayette, Colorado that the situation becomes truly hilarious.
Police say that an employee of Peak Charter School contacted them after noticing a suspicious duffel bag abandoned in the school’s empty parking lot early Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, police secured the area, locked down the students and teachers who had arrived early and called in the Boulder County bomb squad.
After the streets around the school were blocked off, the bomb squad went to work. Using a robot equipped with remote controlled arms and a camera, they took a peek inside the mysterious duffel bag. What they discovered was a rather large Kermit the Frog doll stained with what may or may not have been blood.
Because most students had not arrived on campus before the incident, school remained closed for the rest of the day.
Okay, the presence of a blood stain does raise the sinister factor a bit. But despite the fact that her whereabouts at the time of the incident have not been determined, Miss Piggy is not considered a suspect. In fact, rumor has it that Kermit was not even the victim of foul play but rather an unwitting prop in a senior prank.
But seriously, didn’t everyone involved overreact just a little bit?

Trey commented on Jan 22 10 at 11:30 pmTotally “hilarious” unless it’s your child’s school, right? Would you gamble on innocent life? Times are scary in this day and age. I don’t find anything funny about it.
Lucky commented on Jan 25 10 at 1:49 pmI probably would have unzipped the bag… unless of course it was ticking ;-)
