Nursery Rhymes: A Literal Interpretation

I don’t think anyone has ever heard a nursery rhyme without thinking, “What? The bough broke? That’s got to hurt.”
So I was highly amused to see this story by Sarah Schmelling in a recent update to McSweeney’s literary web site, offering a literal interpretation of some childhood favorites.
Here’s a few gems.
“What do you mean, she’ll get here “when she comes”? That’s not a time. How can I plan around that?”
And
“You are not a little teapot, honey. You’ve just got my hips. I’m sorry.”
Find some more over at McSweeney’s here.
