Texas mom flies to Canada for sex with teen

Lauri Price, a 42 year old Houston mom remains in custody on Wednesday, accused of flying to Canada to have a sexual encounter with a 16 year old boy with whom she had an online relationship for about a year.
Price has been charged by prosecutors in Houston with two counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of enticing a child with the intent to commit a felony. Authorities said that the relationship started about a year ago and that Price and the teen, who was 15 at the time, met while playing the Internet video game “World of Warcraft”.
Lt. Matthew Gray, with the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, said that Price had attempted to get to the boy’s home in Barrie, Ontario in February of 2008, but after failing to meet with the teen she continued the on-line sexual relationship.
On Dec 29th Price apparently succeeded in luring the boy, now age 16, to a hotel in Russou, Canada about 70 miles from his home, and having sex with him.
Price didn’t face charges related to sexual assault in Canada because the age of consent is 16. Canadian authorities spotted the teen and Price at the hotel and contacted US authorities with information on when Price would be coming back, because she knew there would be possible charges in the United States.
Price was arrested on Tuesday at Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport and is being charged with two counts of online solicitation of a minor and one count of enticing a child with the intent to commit a felony.
Price has worked as a permanent substitute teacher with the Cypress-Fairbanks school district in suburban Houston, and has four children.

notskeeved commented on Jan 07 10 at 12:58 pmI should be more skeeved out by this, but I’m not. Canada makes a judgement that says that 16 year olds are mature enough to have sex. It seems like a technicality that the phone calls/chats/whatever were made in one jurisdiction. The actual act took place in his jurisdiction. It would be like calling ahead to Amsterdam to check on pot availability for your visit there. The fact that you may be in Boston seems pretty immaterial.
