Half a Million Car Seats Recalled
Is this the holiday season or is it recall season? Another major kids product recall is under way – this time it’s nearly half a million car seats being called back by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and manufacturers.
Affecting four of the biggest brands of car seats, it’s affecting only those used as infant carriers.
The problem, according to the CPSC, is the handles on the car seats. When used as carriers, they loosen over time and can eventually break, causing you to drop your baby. Maker Dorel Juvenile Group has received seventy-seven reports of the child restraint handle fully or partially coming off the car seat/carrier resulting in at least three injuries to infants.
The Dorel seats are branded by Safety First, Eddie Bauer, Disney and Cosco, and there are some four hundred forty-seven million on the market, sold throughout 2008 and early 2009.
