BREAKING: Michelle Duggar Gives Birth to Preemie

michdug 294x3001 BREAKING: Michelle Duggar Gives Birth to PreemieBaby mama extraordinaire Michelle Duggar popped out number nineteen Thursday, but the fight isn’t over yet.

After being rushed to the hospital with gallbladder pains this week, Duggar gave birth to an extremely premature little girl.

Following family tradition, she’s got a “J” name – Josie Brooklyn – and she was born in the Duggar’s home state of Arkansas. But Josie is now in the NICU after weighing in at 1 pound, 6 oz.

A spokeswoman for the Duggar family had told reporters Tuesday that the gallstones had caused contractions, but the medicine given for the condition had settled everything down. She was resting but would remain in the hospital for observation.

Then came the delivery. Reported by Discovery Health, a member of the company which airs the Duggar family’s TV show about raising eighteen (now nineteen) kids, the delivery was an emergency C-Section.

Says Discovery Health’s official press release: “Michelle is resting comfortably and baby is stable and in the NICU for extended care. The most important thing right now is for Mom and baby Josie to get as much rest as possible.  The family is grateful for all the prayers and well wishes during their recovery.”

Say what you will about the Duggars, a premature birth and NICU stay are scary for any family and no laughing matter. This baby was not due until spring – the announcement to the media came in early September, so May at the latest.

premie?

1 pound, 16 oz.?? Wouldn’t that be 2 pounds? LOL. The baby was born weighing 1 pound, 6 oz. and is a preemie.

God Bless her and the baby.Maybe 19 is enough? They have had no health problems till now.It was only a matter of time with all those kids.

Pre-e isn’t something that you get from having a lot of children. If anything her age was the biggest risk factor. Pre-e can happen with someone on their first pregnancy.

I think the Duggars are a bit crazy and subscribe to a creepy religious sect, but my good thoughts are certainly with them during this scary and still-dangerous time.

No way was the baby due in May-babies do not come five months early and survive. The earliest age of viability is 23-24 weeks. The baby was probably due in February or March.

Yeah the baby was due in March but they never specified what week.

I second the age comment, I was born a little bit premature, and they thing it was due to my mom’s age.

My prayers go out, to the Duggers.I know firsthand, what they are going through, as my daughter gave birth to preemie twins, at 33 weeks. Weighing 3 and 4 pounds. I have watched the Duggers, since the very first episode, and will continue to do so.I pray that little Josie will soon be home and looking forward to seeing her on the show! Best wishes, and lots of prayers, for the family!

The Dugger family does not ask for handouts. So why don’t people keep their opinions to their selves? I myself wish that I could have had more childern myself. But god had other plans…SO BE IT!
