Dad Trying to Lactate Calls It Quits
Remember Ragnar Bengtsson, the Swedish man who set on breastfeeding his future children? The 26-year-old college student spent three hours a day getting cozy with a breast pump in hopes that he could urge some milk out of his breasts.
He thought it was worth a fair shot, saying, “Anything that doesn’t do any harm is worth trying out.”
Bengtsson put his best breast forward, but in the end he just couldn’t produce anything but a pair of very sore nipples. He’s giving up his attempt to breastfeed his future babies, for which his future teenage children are very, very glad.
Though Bengtsson’s experiment didn’t work, there have been anecdotal reports of men producing milk and occasionally breastfeeding their children. Nicknamed “milkmen,” some of these dads have worked at it like Bengtsson did, while others appear to lactate spontaneously.
Bengtsson is visiting The Tyra Banks Show this week to share his story. What do you think — if a dad can pull it off, would male breastfeeding create a closer bond between man and child? Or does it just seem creepy to you?

Jilted Wife Tries to Trick Husband’s Pregnant Mistress Into Miscarrying | Strollerderby commented on Dec 07 09 at 12:55 pmBec commented on Dec 03 09 at 11:32 amI read a book in university about a utopian/dystopian future, and one of the more bizarre aspects was the way they addressed reproduction. Babies grew in machines, essentially, and would be born to a three-parent unit. The gender makeup of the trio didn’t matter, and they didn’t have to be in romantic relationships. At least one of the three would breastfeed, and it was equally likely that parent would be male (they used magical future science to make it work).
At first, it was really off-putting to read about, made me feel all squicky inside. But even within the book, I felt myself get used to it… so I expect I would if it were really viable and if more than a handful of men did it I would get comfortable with seeing it.

TolaniLucia commented on Dec 03 09 at 2:28 pmSorry, but this is a lot more creepy than a Policewoman. Like heaps and loads more creepy.
