Top 10 Most Dangerous Toys
Nothing says “I love you” like a trip to the ER, which is what World Against Toys Causing Harm (WATCH) is trying to prevent. The consumer group puts out an annual list of toys that have potential to cause injury to kids, and they’ve just released this year’s list:
On it are toys with potential to cause eye or head injuries, impact injuries, or they contain small pieces that children could choke on. Here’s the list:
- Disney Pixar Wall-E Foam Rocket Launcher
- Moon Board Pogo Board
- Curious Baby Curious George Counting – My First Book of Numbers
- The Dark Knight Batman Figure
- X-Men Origins Slashin’ Action Wolverine
- Lots to Love Babies Mini-Nursery
- Just Kidz Junior Musical Instruments
- Cat Rugged Mini
- Picci Pups Maltese
- Spy Gear Viper Blaster
Keep in mind that many (but not all) of these toys aren’t so much dangerous as they are mislabeled for us in children under 3. For instance, the Lots to Love Babies Mini-Nursery has a shower attachment that could break off and cause a small child to choke, but appears to be safe for older kids who’ve stopped putting things in their mouth. That said, according to MSNBC, 19 children died in 2008 due to toy related injuries, and toys caused 235,300 trips to the ER.
