Study Says Boys Have More Personality Than Girls
But they didn’t necessarily say better personality…
According to research coming out of the University of Exeter, males have more distinct personalities than females. That includes other beings than humans; the research found the results consistent across all species observed including house sparrows.
And why are males such drama queens? Why to mate, of course.
It’s sexual selection, a theory that originates with Charles Darwin. In this theory, males “act out” to attract females. And it works. Females of all species are attracted to “male” traits like aggression and daring. Thus the more aggressive and daring a male presents himself, the more likely he’ll land a significant other (or at least a quickie). The females see these traits as advantages for finding food and protecting the homestead. Incidentally, the research found females were practically stronger at exploratory behavior.
So the next time you see your toddler son ramming his truck against the wall again and again, just know he’s practicing for the singles scene.
