justin bieber Justin Bieber Rep Jailed for Not Using TwitterWe knew Twitter messages could lose you your job, but who knew you could go to jail for NOT using Twitter?

A record label representative working with teen pop star Justin Bieber was sent to jail this weekend for not getting on the star’s Twitter account and warning his fans to calm down.

According to New York Newsday, the Roosevelt Mall was forced to cancel Bieber’s appearance when the crowd of mostly teen girls became unruly. Hey – you don’t get between a bunch of tween girls and their signed copy of My World, m’ kay?

The cops arrived, and they ordered James Roppo, VP of Def Jam, to send out a Tweet to quell the cat fight. When he didn’t, Roppo was placed under arrest on charges of criminal nuisance, endangering the welfare of a minor and obstructing government administration.

A police detective told Newsday that by not putting up the message on Twitter “We feel he put lives in danger and the public at risk.”

They do realized one hundred forty characters or less was not going to make a bunch of teen girls hungry for some hottie calm down, don’t they? And do they really think the girls were using their Blackberries for checking Bieber’s Twitter page when they were too busy holding them high to snap a picture?

Apparently the presence of Bieber had them as twitterpated as the teen girls (yes, thank you, I’ll be here all week).

wtf? Seriously? Where are the parents of the ‘tween rioters?’ Could the police really not handle this themselves? The tweet was supposed to stop them? My head hurts.

Justin Bieber is very talented for his age. He is also very famous and my kids love him. “

You can’t jail a rep for not “Tweeting” on command. Since when was any rep held directly responsible for the behavior of fans at an entertainment venue? Think about all the concert riots there’ve been. Were there any reps of the bands arrested then? This is ridiculous abuse of power. I smell a lawsuit coming.
