Baby Safe After Being Trapped in Washing Machine
Two Mississippi tots found a fun way to entertain themselves while their mother did laundry at a local laundromat: The four-year-0ld pushed his seven-month-old baby brother around in a rolling basket.
The game turned (more) dangerous, though, when the older boy pushed the basket up against his mother’s washing machine. The baby leaned over to get a closer look, and the boy pushed the baby in.
Not realizing what had happened, the mother shut the door and started the washer up with her baby inside, realizing her horrifying mistake too late. Since the washer was running, the door was locked and couldn’t be opened.
The mother ran frantically to a nearby bar and returned with three men who pried the door open. The baby has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
I suspect the mother, on the other hand, will never be quite the same again.

Woman Labors in Bathroom After Doctors Send Her Home | Strollerderby commented on Nov 17 09 at 4:30 pmAli commented on Nov 17 09 at 3:49 pmNOt buying that cockamamie story. What 7 month old can sit up and lean over to look in something? I think she put it in there thinking she would get him right out and did not realize the door locks during the cycle.
patricia commented on Nov 17 09 at 3:57 pmMy 8 month old has been sitting up and leaning over to look at stuff since she was about 5.5 months. She’s also been crawling and cruising almost that long. She’s just very motivated.
jinxy commented on Nov 17 09 at 11:45 pmyeah but why was the mom not WATCHING her children?
esther commented on Nov 18 09 at 3:56 amLet’s all blame the mother! My son started sitting up at 4 months, crawling at 5 1/2 months. It is certainly not unheard of, or even all that uncommon. It only takes one moment of letting your attention slip for a tragedy to occur. I am glad that the child is safe. That poor women must have been horrified when she realized what happened.
