What Are Your Kids Wearing This Halloween?

toddler ghost costume 150x150 What Are Your Kids Wearing This Halloween?Looking at a list of popular 2009 costumes, I was wondering what your kids wearing wearing this Halloween.

This list of About.com’s Most Popular Halloween Costumes in 2009 has exactly zero matches with what my children or the children of anyone I know will be wearing. The number one costume on About.com’s list is Michael Jackson, followed by Harry Potter, “The Vampire” (generic costume for Twi-hards I guess), Miley Cyrus, Star Trek (whoo-hoo!), Zombie, G.I. Joe Ninja, and Hermione Granger. For the first time in many, many years, I’m going to wear a semi-costume — Spock ears and a Star Trek t-shirt. The full-on Mr. Spock costume was way too expensive — $49.99 for one version, $99.99 for another. My kids really wanted me to wear something, and hey, who am I to disappoint them?

But enough about me. What are your kids wearing this Halloween?

My daughter will be dressed as a butterfly fairy. We wanted to do something that was thrifty and would serve as dress up fodder for the rest of the year. So we made a purple and blue tutu to match her 50 cent garage sale butterfly wings and presto– costume accomplished. She’ll be wearing a black turtleneck, black leggings and her black Converse to round out the look.

I love homemade! We glued leaves and moss to some overalls, hung some crazy voodoo bones & skulls and our little toddler is going to be Lil Swamp Thing! It was cheap and fairly easy – a!

For my daughters first halloween out, she will be wearing a monkey costume and I will be dressed as a giant banana.

I thought the toddler ghost costume you illustrated the post with was a condom at first. Broken condom would be a funny little kids’ costume.

My kid will be dressed in a ST:TNG costume, pips and all, and my husband and I are wearing all black with yellow tape grid lines. We will be the holodeck.

My twin girls are going to be garden gnomes. Some mismatched clothes, striped tights, an apron, and a conical red hat. Done.

“My son will be Capt. James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise”
Awesome. I am compelled to ask – new movie version or original series?
