Feverish Dad Misses Daughter’s Birth
When Brandie D’Orazio showed up at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in labor with her first child, hospital staff checked her in, got her ready and then sent her labor partner — husband Dan — packing.
Dan had a fever and the hospital wasn’t taking any chances. The D’Orazios, though sad to see Dan go, weren’t either.
A friend came to help instead. She took pictures and videotaped the birth. And Dan coached his wife remotely via cell phone.
Late the next day, after Dan had been fever-free for 24 hours, he met his daughter Stella Rose.
And look at what smart parents Dan and Brandie are already. Here’s what he told WBAL TV:
“The whole experience was unexpected, but I think I’ve learned that as a parent, you roll with the punches. I learned that lesson early,” Dan said.
That’s Stella Rose in the picture … “hey, where’s Dad?”
