Sebelius, Duncan and Sid the Science Kid
A cartoon character is getting his flu shot, and the country’s Secretary of Health and Human Services AND Secretary of Education are both showing up to watch.
That’s because the newest episode of PBS show Sid the Science Kid is being produced by the Jim Henson Company with help from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The curious pre-schooler who introduces kids to scientific reasoning and specializes in having super-duper-ooper-schmooper big ideas is going to track the science behind flu vaccinations in the special episode, set to premiere next Monday, Oct. 26.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, and Lisa Henson, CEO of the Jim Henson Company, will give D.C.-area kids a look-see at the show a little early with a premiere tomorrow, including a question and answer session on getting the flu shot.
The show is called “Getting a Shot – You Can Do It.” Coming from their favorite curious kid, it could help ease some fears before the next round of shots, so get the DVR ready.
