cheerio baby costume Cheap Ass Halloween Costumes to Make Your Children SadSome parents really go all out to make Halloween a special occasion for their children. And some parents wake up from a drunken stupor on October 31st, roll of the couch and exclaim, “It’s Hallow what?! Fine, kid, put this paper bag on your head. Now you’re the ghost of a tree. Happy, skedaddle!”

Some parents will spare no expense to make Halloween as depressing as possible. These are those parents’ kids.

I don’t get it. I thought most of these were fine. OK, the kid in the Cheerios box is lame, but I thought many of them had quite a lot of thought and effort put into them, even if the result wasn’t exactly professional - but since when was ‘professional-looking’ supposed to be the point of a kid’s Halloween costume? I thought the giraffe, the tree, the robot and the pool shark were all awesome.

I don’t get it either. Lots of work and creativity went into many of these.

Talk about cheap my 14 month old son is going to be Harry Potter for Halloween. Pj’s and a lighting bolt on his head! Done!

It’s funny, but I’d give points for originality! It’s a sad sad world when a “suitable costume” has to be store-bought, and cute…

The Cheerios is lame. But I thought most of the rest are pretty freakin’ cute! Halloween is supposed to be fun!!

Did you stop to consider that maybe these parents don’t just “wake up from a drunken stupor on October 31st, roll of the couch and exclaim, “It’s Hallow what?! Fine, kid, put this paper bag on your head. Now you’re the ghost of a tree. Happy, skedaddle!” ” or “try to make Halloween as deppressing as possible” but instead try to be creative and give their kids a good Halloween despite financial dificulties. I thought a lot of these were cute and you can tell some of these parents tried really hard. Be nice.

Okay, the peanut was freakin’ adorable, the kid looked happy and it took some time and effort. Nacho Libre was spot on, though maybe you didn’t get it, not having seen the ridiculous movie 1000 times like I have. The snails, too, are cute. A lot of the kids are just crying cause they’re, um, babies, but the costumes look fine. Sheesh.

Some really inventive costumes here, and many seemed to have taken a lot of effort. Guaranteed the fairy robot costume was exactly what that little girl requested.

Ah, Babble. Putting the snark in everything under the sun.

I would love to dress my son as Max from WTWTA, but you can’t find the costume anywhere… except Etsy, and I can’t really dole out $175 plus a $50 Halloween surcharge for a costume these days.

I agree with the others, I think a lot of these are great and perfect for the make-some-fun spirit of Halloween. I especially love the lobster in the pot!

that nacho libre is awesome! love it!

I love these! The robot fairy is my favorite, but the lobster baby in the bucket is good too. I hope one of my kids asks to be an eyeball sometime.

I’m confused why you’ve positioned these pictures this way. Better would be “Check out the wacky Halloween costumes!” Several of these are bought, and another batch are really well homemade ones.

Seriously?!? Seriously?!? You write an article about crappy halloween costumes and *these* are the best pictures you can find. Me thinks someone phoned this article in.

There are no shortage of crappy kid costumes out there. Growing up my siblings and I had no shortage of them—including the year my parents had us make each others. My 6 year old brother wanted to be a clock. I, being 13 at the time, put him in a box and wrote 8:53 on him in black sharpie. Now THAT was a crappy costume.

Seriously dude - you’ve lost perspective.

Oh my god I thought the Nacho Libre was supposed to be RON JEREMY!!! Now THAT would be wrong…I thought most of these were cute, especially the lobster pot!
