Morning News – Fewer Abortions Worldwide
NPR is reporting that “The number of women seeking abortions worldwide has declined dramatically in the past decade, even as laws against abortion were liberalized in many countries.”This is according to a study releaed by the Guttmacher Institute. Interestingly, “unintended pregnancy rates didn’t go up.” There are details, of course; you can read the various reports, broken down by country, right here.

Big problems yesterday with Postini, the anti-spam service owned by Google. So if you didn’t get any emails all day yesterday, it might not be because you aren’t popular anymore.

Here’s all you need to know about Rush Limbaugh wanting to buy an NFL team — he has every right to make a bid for the St. Louis Rams, or any other team that may be for sale. The NFL owners have every right to vote against his ownership, just as they have that right for any other potential owner. NFL players, sports columnists, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and everybody else on the planet have the right to have an opinion about this matter, pro or con. If Limbaugh is not approved as an NFL owner (and it’s not clear that he and his group of buyers would have the top bid for the Rams), that is not discrimination against him. The NFL is a business, and their rules stipulate that 75% of the owners must vote in favor of a new owner. That’s it. Got it? Good.
And finally, Paul Anka will get royalties for the new Michael Jackson song. Why? Because he co-wrote it. How nobody noticed this fact before the song was released is beyond me. Especially since the song was already released, under a different name, by an artist named Safire in 1991. Oops!
