Dad Pleads Guilty To Impregnating and Killing Daughter
Warning — this is a creepy story.
36-year-old Miguel Matias of the Bronx impregnated his 14-year-old daughter Ana. Then he killed her and stuffed her in the boiler.
But that wasn’t the story he initially told the police.
He first said that he strangled her with an electrical cord because he discovered that she was writing “sex things” on her computer. That was in February of 2008.
In April of 2009, DNA tests revealed the pregnancy and the fact that he was the father.
He first pleaded not guilty and tried to hang himself while in jail. A psychiatric evaluation determined that he was fit to stand trial.
This past Friday he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. The possible sentence is 25 years to life. That’s the plea bargain; had the gone to trial, he could have gotten 50 years to life.
Gross. But at least there won’t be a trial. That’s something. Not much, but something.
