Morning News – Meet the New Health Care Bill

just a bill schoolhouse rock 150x142 Morning News Meet the New Health Care BillThe latest version of the Health Care bill making its way around the hallowed halls of the United States Government promises to reduce the deficit by $81 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

The cost of the plan would be $829 billion over 10 years. That would ensure that 94 per cent of Americans are insured (see what I did there?), according to a report from the AP.

That’s not universal coverage, of course — 25 million folks wouldn’t get anything under this plan, according to the same article. Is 94 per cent of a loaf better than no loaf? Probably.

Republicans are, shockingly, saying that the plan sucks. Senator Olympia Snowe (Republican from Maine) likes it. Others, like this guy, don’t.

Will it pass? Who knows. Bob Dole says it will. And Bob Dole knows. Bob Dole knows!

If it does, we can sing this song:

Sony has released a new laptop called the Vaio X. They say it is the lightest computer ever. EVER. 14-hour battery life. You can buy it for $1300 next month. Take a look:

The Yankees beat the Twins last night. C. C. Sabathia was Cool Cool under pressure, although he looked like he might be Crappy Crappy when he gave up 2 runs early in the game. But then Derek Jeter did what Derek Jeter does, delivering a clutch 2-run homer to tie the game. Alex Rodriguez, aka The Rod, even got hits with runners in scoring position. Oh, and he’s dating Kate Hudson, and may have gotten her pregnant. At least we only have to hear about that when The Rod gets a hit, as opposed to before The Rod was revealed to have taken steroids. Back then we would have heard about it every 2 minutes.

Amazon announced a lower price for the Kindle, and will now offer their free wireless service in countries other than the United States.

Silvio Berlusconi is in trouble. But he’s defiant. Apparently the Prime Minister of Italy tried to pass a law saying that he was immune from prosecution. But Italy’s Constitutional Court said no way. His response? “The government will forge ahead calmly, tranquilly and with even more grit than before because this will be absolutely indispensable for freedom and democracy in this country.” Remember when he picked his nose and ate it? Good times, good times. (Note: this video is kind of gross.)

Note: That’s not Berlusconi, according to YouTube commenters. It’s an actor named Maurizio Antonini. But it’s still funny.
