Morning News – Detroit Tigers Lose To Twins

twins fred and george weasley 150x150 Morning News Detroit Tigers Lose To TwinsThe city of Detroit can’t catch a break.

(Scroll down to understand this photo.)

Last night the Detroit Tigers completed a spectacular collapse by losing to the Minnesota Twins in a one-game playoff, thereby missing the post-season. It was a 12 inning game. Very long. Now the Twins travel to New York to play the Yankees. Tonight. They will probably be tired.

For Yankee fans, this means that we may get to see Carl Pavano pitch, something he did very little of while played in the Bronx. (Pavano now plays for the Twins.)

Nobody told McDonald’s that Pluto wasn’t a planet anymore. The fast food folks have a Happy Meal box that says, “the Solar System is made up of all the planets that orbit our sun…there are 9 planets total,” according to the Space Disco blog on Discovery.com. Oops!

Former Georgia Senator Max Cleland tells PoliticsDaily.com that he “cried uncontrollably for 2 ½ years” after Karl Rove and Saxby Chambliss ran ads questioning his military service.

Same-sex marriage bill in D.C. As in Washington D.C. Our nation’s capital. It might pass. Interesting.

And Senator John Ensign told CNN that he will not resign because he “broke no law.” He also ate no fat, and his wife will eat no lean. I do like how some folks on the Conservative side of the political spectrum are calling for David Letterman’s head, and those same folks seem to be fine with Ensign’s dalliance. To be clear: Ensign’s affair is not the cause of his potential legal troubles, rather “it is his effort to obtain lucrative consulting and lobbying contracts for the husband of his former mistress that has put the senator in legal jeopardy,” according to PoliticsDaily. Hey, guys! Here’s an idea. Keep it in your pants. That way you won’t have these problems.

1. Robbed.
2. We get to watch the spankees smack down the twins.
3. I can see this conversation with my son “When I was YOUR age, Pluto was still a planet!”
4. Why? Let em’ rake muck if you have nothing to hide (granted, I have no idea wth is the issue with his military service and why they’re questioning it)
5. That’d be interesting.
6. Didn’t you know that being elected to office makes you a saint beyond moral reproach no matter what your offense? ::sarcasm with a trowel::

Being originally from Buffalo, I feel no sympathy for a city that hasn’t “caught a break” since all the way back in 2008 when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup.

OK, Buffalo wins.
Didn’t realize the Red Wings won in 2008. Although that’s hockey. Does hockey count? :-)

Yeah, but the last time the Tigers went to the WS was in 06. The last time they won? 8freaking4.

Good point. I remember that year.
