Red Sox Fan Forces 9-Year-Old to Flip Yankees Shirt

nate johns 300x209 Red Sox Fan Forces 9 Year Old to Flip Yankees ShirtHe’s teaching in upstate New York. So why did a teacher send a 9-year-old to the bathroom to turn his New York Yankees t-shirt inside out?

Because he’s a Red Sox fan.

Not the excuse Nathan Johns’ parents were looking for either. They say their nine-year-old son was sent to the bathroom to turn his blue C.C. Sabathia shirt inside out and forced by teacher Peter Addabbo to wear it that way for the rest of the day. Meanwhile Addabbo’s classroom far from Fenway is strewn with Sox paraphernalia.

Sounds like someone was bitten by the green monster to me.

As a diehard Yanks fan, I make it my personal mission to rag on my teenage cousin mercilessly for his misguided Sox ways. But it’s all done in a joking manner – and he also happens to be a teenager . . . who harasses me right back. And at the end of the day, we’re still Facebook friends. The Yankees/Sox rivalry may be one of the biggest in sports, but when it comes down to it, I can stand in my pinstripes and admit it’s all fun and games.

Until some moron ruins it for the rest of us.

It’s a school! He’s a little kid! And this isn’t a matter of disrupting a classroom with curse words scrawled across the shirt (sorry, Boston, I know Sabathia is a naughty word in Beantown, but out on the streets, it’s just a name).

The school district is investigating, and district officials told a Syracuse newspaper this isn’t an offense they support. Maybe the teacher pre-judged the kid for his shirt?

Over at MomLogic, they say the teacher should have to pull down his Sox stuff. I think he just needs to grow up.

What do you think?

I think the teacher was wrong in what he made that kid do. The Yankee shirt was not offensive at all. I’m a huge Yankees fan, and I have had bosses and I also have family members that love the Red Socks. We’d poke fun at each other, but like you said in the end it was all fun and games.

I haven’t had anything good to say about the Yankees since Yogi Berra was their manager. I loved that man. He was the last real Yankee.

Boston I haven’t cared for since Ted Williams left for Korea. Those were the good old boys from the good old days.

Comments well it LOOKS like a pretty offensive shirt to me. Maybe his parents should have checked out what he was wearing before they sent him to school with that horrible shirt, poor kid…
